Hello everyone. I have a few questions of my cat which is half indoor and half outdoor.  He likes to pee and poo on all the beds. Also has peed on a dinner chair. Every time I want to take him out he runs behind the couch and uses the back as his litter box also uses the couch as a scratch post. By the way he does have a litter box. I feel bad leaving him in front of the door meowing since he will beg for quite a while.

He is super energetic and playful I love him very much but I don't know what to do anymore my couch is starting to smell very bad. Any way of getting rid of urine odor? Thank you very much.

Is he neutered?

He also needs to go to the vet for a check up.  Inappropriate elimination is often the result of a medical issue.

I'm not understanding part of your post.  Are you saying that he meows to go outside or to come back in?  It doesn't sound to me like he enjoys going outside.

You might want to consider adding another litter box inside.  How often do you scoop the box?  Is he your only cat?

As for places he has already peed or pooped, you'll need an enzyme cleaner to fully remove the smell.  Otherwise he will be drawn back to the same place.

Not a neutered kitten. And he meows to come inside but the problem is I live with my parents and my father is not liking the fact that he does his business behind the couch. So he doesn't want me to bring him indoors at all. He is indoors from 8:00 am to 12:00 am. And no I have a 7 year old who no longer likes being indoors. He doesn't really use the litter box so I clean it once a week. Do you think if I neuter him his behavior will change? I really love this kitty.  I am going to  take him to the vet to see if anything is wrong thank you very much for telling me on how to get rid of the smell!

Yes, neutering will help. Your cat is unhappy going outside. I think you need to find a solution to keep him in. Is your other cat neutered? He likely doesn't like being inside because your younger cat is claiming territory.

How often do you clean the box?

My other cat is neutered. And once a week since he doesn't use it much. Maybe that's why he instantly wants to run outside when he sees the other kitty.

I will try to neuter him and see if anything changes and if it does my dad might accept him being a indoor cat. Thank you very much.

The litter box needs to be cleaned every day and you should add a second one. Many cats don't like to use a box that is at all dirty.

You just have to scoop every day, clean the box every month thoroughly if it is not used much, clumping litter helps to keep it cleaner longer. Neutering would definitely help. All toms spray their territory.  Now you have a problem with them smelling the spots and wanting to go again. You need some clear carpet runner with those little 'nubs' on the back, lay it down nub side up behind the couch and he won't go back there anymore, the nubs make them uncomfortable without actually hurting their feet.  Get  a good ENZYME cat urine cleaner, you just spray it on and let it set, it actually 'eats' the bacteria. Look at the ratings on the internet and order it from Amazon or find it at a pet section in a shopping center, it is the only thing that works to get rid of the smell. Tom cat urine is MUCH stronger than a neutered cats. Good luck!

Hi everyone I am having a bit of a problem. My garage has a cat door for my two male cats but there is a stray female in heat and two male strays in my garage but I can't seem to get them out of there and my father has instruments and they are spraying everything. I would like to know how can I take the cats out. They are in a small storage part located at the top of my garage. Does anyone know anything that will make them get out with ought being harmed? Thank You Very much. They Have also been keeping me up all night.

That's the problem with cat doors. The only thing I can think of is to leave the garage door open. I would imagine they will leave if they have no food and water.

It's a shame that these unloved cats are roaming outside & unfixed.

I Got One Of Them Out Of My Garage But There Is Still One Who Is Very Loud. I Don't Think I Can Catch Them Since They Are Hiding In A Spot I Can't Reach. I Have Another Problem More male Cats!! I Blocked The Kitty Entrance. I'm Thinking Of Calling Animal Control To Rent A Trap. But They Are Almost Closed.

Please call a rescue that can help you trap and neuter / spay. This situation won't resolve otherwise. They need help. Can you bring the girl in heat inside?

Maybe I Can Do That Leave The Garage Open But There Are About 3 more Males Who are roaming around and being very annoying. My Two Male Cats are indoors so no problem with them. If I Leave it open they will hop back in the Storage part.

There is nothing to do unless they can be fixed, unfortunately.

I Could Not Bring The Female Inside. I Do Not Want To Get Bit Since She Is A Stray. One Of The Male Cats Bit My Hand.

Also Have Two Males Neutered Inside. Maybe I Could Trap Them With A Cage. But They Don't Seem To Care About Cat Food Right Now.

The males will keep coming until the female goes out of heat. Every male in the vicinity will come. If there is no food in the garage they won't stay long.

If you can trap the female the issue will resolve itself. You can then take her to a no kill shelter to be spayed & later adopted.
