I'm looking to buy a cat tree for my new & first boy. He's a big cat, what can you recommend??

There are so many brands and styles out there that will fit most budgets. Since you say your new boy is big, I would suggest picking out one that has a wider, stable base so that if he jumps off from the top, the tree won't tip. I found that reading the reviews really helped me find a good stable tree. There were several that I was interested in but then vetoed after reading the reviews. Here's an example of a tree that has a wider base:

I have two trees from Go Pet Club and I like both for quality and price but as I said: there are a ton of brands and styles to choose from!

Hi, like @HelloMissKitty  said, there are many great brands.  You will definitely want one with a stable base.  I'm partial to the Pussycat brand.  They are pricey.  But they are built like a tank, attractive, stable and hold up well.  We have three.  One is six years old, the others are five.  All of them still look new.

They make floor to ceiling models, small ones and everything in-between.  All of their trees/condos are highly customizable, either at the time of order or down the road.  And they sell replacement parts.  We keep spare hammocks and sisal posts.  Every so often, I reconfigure Archie and Lucy's trees to sustain interest.  One other plus, all of the materials used are cat friendly.  No formaldehyde in the carpet, no chemicals in the sisal rope, etc.  The hammocks unzip so they can be washed.

Their website is kinda lame. It takes a bit of effort to navigate.  The link to their catalog is: http://www.pussicat.com/catalog/index.php

Good luck.

Something sturdy and tip proof is a must. Some trees and other furniture are basically thin plywood that wobble and tip over easily.

Here are some threads with suggstions for sturdy trees and furniture:

Etsy.com has lots of cat trees and furniture, too. Most sellers can do custom orders.

I have an Aruba Cat tree. It's very sturdy and heavy and puts up with two cats constantly running and jumping off it.

Awe thank you, I'll be honest I was very reluctant to take on a cat because I'd heard that they were very destructive but I've done my homework & spoken to a lot of people who have cats & asked for advice on websites & I've had a different view, im so excited to get him as he's been used to be an indoor cat but his current owner has to put him out every night as her cats fight with him & he hates going out so I'm really looking forward to getting him & giving him the life he's craving

Sounds like it will be really good for him to have his own home where he can blossom. Thank you for opening your heart and home to him [emoji]10084[/emoji]️Please keep us posted and post photos when you get him home!
If you are able to watch past or current episodes of the show My Cat From Hell, you will find it very interesting and informative as to cat behavior. Watching these shows really taught me so much and helped me to build a great bond with my cat. Of course, problems shown on the show are the extreme but any of the techniques and principles can be applied to any cat.

Yeah I agree but his current owner says he's very well behaved in the house, the only thing is that he doesn't like to be picked up & wants a fuss on his terms

My cat doesn't like being picked up either but I adopted her from a shelter where I had little background on her so I had to figure things out as we went along. It's going to help the transition for both of you since you know some of his likes and dislikes upfront.

I'm just going to let him come to me in his own time, if he wants attention I'll give him it, if not I'll leave him be!!

That is the perfect approach. He will let you know his boundaries. While you figure each other out, in lieu of lots of physical interaction, talking to him a lot will help you two start to bond. I'm really excited for you!!

Am I being really unrealistic when I'm thinking cat don't destroy or are unclean, I really fear that they do. He is initially going to be an indoor cat & im then going to try him outside, but I'm not going to force him. He'll be left about 14hrs a day including sleeping time. With his cat trees & toys do you think he'll be ok??

Thanks dorimon,

I've also seen some really good trees on eBay which are really cheap, about half the price of what they should be. Thanks for the links
