I want a little kitty climbing kingdom for my house eventually. I know that my young kitty would love it! It's overwhelming though to sort through all the different choices available!

Any recommendations for one?

I was hoping for recommendations too...!  Is bigger better?  Should I get one of the more expensive ones with multiple hiding spots, or is it better to have several smaller and simpler ones so each cat can have their own?

i have quite a few cat trees for my cats. i prefer the armarkat cat trees. they come in different styles, heights, 'configurations'......and (really good feature) you can order replacement parts if ever needed (i've never needed to replace any part on any of mine). they're reasonably priced too, compared to some other brands that can cost in the several hundred dollars or more range.

and you can order armarkat cat trees from amazon too -- make sure it's shipped by amazon, so you get the free shipping.

Thanks for the recommendation! I have a Prime account and order from Amazon all the time, so it's good to know that they have good options!

you are welcome!

i always look for wide bases on cat trees too, which make them less liable to tip over. and since i have more than one cat, i prefer to have two or more  platforms up high on the cat tree -- so my cats won't 'argue' about who gets the platform.

also, there are some reviews for cat trees here at TCS, in the reviews section -- look up at the top of the page, and you'll see "REVIEWS" third from the left. you can click on that 'reviews' to go over to the reviews section.

A sturdy well built tree is a must. A flimsy lightweight tree may tip over while a cat is playing on it or running across it.

These trees are well built:

I have a 6 foot Arubacat tree. It's heavy and sturdy and has held up to the constant abuse my cats dish out.

For something modular, Kitty City is good.

We have one from Amazon, go pet something. I certainly would not call it the best but it was reasonably priced and the kitties like it. Its been like 6 months and nothing's broken. I found a Linky.

I have an Armarkat tree that is at least 8 years old now.  It's in great shape!  My only regret is not getting one with 2 high platforms; but we lived in a smaller place back then.  It was a great investment!

I have this one that I ordered online on Black Friday (the last Friday in November) last year: http://www.petco.com/product/117498...Cat-Tree.aspx?CoreCat=Firstinresult_CatFurnPB

I took this picture right after I finished putting the cat tree together (note: I wore my suede gardening gloves when I was attaching the sisal rope poles). There's a very wide window behind the curtains and the windowsill almost level with the third tier (with the large cubby on it). Charvone is 12-13 lbs and Sakura is 9 lbs and even with them both jumping onto it at the same time or playing rough with each other on it, it hasn't wobbled or teetered. I'm sure having it up against the wall probably helps with stability, though. It's still holding up with minimal wear after nearly 10 months, though my cats ripped apart the dangling feather toys within the first few days (they are very destructive!) and I haven't gotten around to replacing or fixing them yet.

I have booked marked a few on amazon!  I picked these because the perches aren't so tiny and it looks solid and not wobbily.

If you have money to burn:

I can personally vouch for Molly and Friends.  I have one of their 2 tier towers and it is quality!  It is very sturdy and solid and their perches are big enough for the bigger kitties. :)

I know this is a fairly old thread and I don't know if you're still looking for a tree, but I just ordered this tree:

It's on sale right now for $150 plus shipping if you're buying from www.cattreefactory.com . This model is sold out on the Kitty Mansions website, and it is also more expensive when bought through the Kitty Mansions website (even when kitty Mansions offers free shipping). cattreefactory.com is the supplier/manufacturer for Kitty Mansions, so buying through them cuts out the middle man and saves you money.

http://www.cattreefactory.com/collections/large-cat-trees/products/mount-hood

It's the Mount Hood model from Kitty Mansions. I didn't find much about it as far as reviews go, but I did find a user on instagram : _PORKCHOPTHECAT_ that has this particular model and she has 3 cats and frequently posts pictures and videos of them rough housing on the tree. Surprisingly, it doesn't seem very wobbly even for how tall it is. And it has a ceiling brace that can be fitted/adusted to the size of a standard ceiling (8ft).

The posts are 4.7 inches in diameter to add more stability. The baskets are 15 inches in diameter and the house is 24 inches long by 12-14 inches wide (I can't remember the width off the top of my head). It also has a small footprint. The base measures 28 inches by 24 inches. The entire tree is 85 inches tall without extending it to brace the ceiling, however, it does extend to 93 inches when braced against an 8 foot ceiling.

If you have more floor space to spare there is always the Kitty Mansions Amazon cat tree:

It's on sale for $199 on cattreefactory.com

http://www.cattreefactory.com/products/amazon-cat-tree

It's base is 46 inches by 25 inches. The tree itself is 78 inches tall. And I've heard it's wondrously steady. It's the most popular large tree from Kitty Mansions. I don't know the exact dimentions of the houses or beds for this tree since I knew I didn't have the floor space for it so I didn't look into this model any further.

But all in all, it really depends what "kind" of cats you have. If you have "tree cats" that love to be up high, then larger tree might be for you, but if you have "bush cats" that like to be more near the ground, smaller models might be a better choice.

Personally, all three of my cats are "tree cats" and like to be up high, that's why I ordered such a tall tree for them haha.
