No @talkingpeanut , I am not concerned about Bob, he has a nice round belly and seems to get enough food, maybe he is more active at night. I am more concerned about Vic's aggressive behavior, he punched and kicked Pepita off the nipple till she cried and gave up... There was a perfect other one available, even actually 3 more... I had to remove him from her at one point because she was screaming. It that normal between kittens?

@Lisajo , that is a cute kitten!

Hi, Whenever the momma doesn't eat or drink, if you can get Gerbers Chicken Stage 2 baby food , you can heat the glass jar in microwave for 15 seconds,

spoon feed her, she needs to be fen so she can have enough food for producing milk. Since she was a stray, she migh hae parasites, so pumkin mixed with poached chicken breast or ground turkey

will be a good food/ wet cat food mixed in, and give her the milk substitute as well or bring her a water bowl. Often a stray is 8 months old, a new mother, unfamiliar

with what to do, so she may stay with the kittens and not care for herself, or want to wonder because of these new kittens. I applaude you for your efforts, she really needs you.

I love this job of helping a new mother and you are doing great. The kittens look very skinny, but I had 4 kittens from a stray and they all thrived.

Mama was so scared she gave birth on my lap and lots of blood and didn't know what the kitten was, but hormones kicked in and she was a great mother.

Got it. Only asked because being too tired to eat can be a bad sign. Kittens pick their nipples very quickly and the little ones get bullied off the best ones. You may need to make sure that the little one gets extra nipple time when her siblings are sleeping. Scuffling is normal. Mom may intervene.

Are you weighing them? That's the best way to see if they are gaining enough.

What I do is actually move the aggresive kitten off the nipple, becasue they tend to use their claws to push away another, they tend to pick their own nipple and the runt is last to get milk, but it sounds like the kittens are doing great.

Ah, ok, so it is fine that Pepita is hugging the good one because she is smaller than Vic. Vic is the biggest and strongest one and a bully, hehe, he can wait for his turn.

Bob looks really fine overall and he is definitely not the smallest one. Mum is letting them fight unless they jump on her head. :)

Didn't find any kitchen scale yet, doesn't seem to be something that is used a lot where I live. :( Will try another shop Monday.

So I watch them and take pictures everyday, and they seem to be growing a lot.

@Lisajo , the mum is around 6 months but she has no problem eating or drinking, she is doing fine. Today, she had kitten wet food, tuna, and a lot of kibble. She was confused the first day but now, she is a great mum. Spending most of her time with the kittens but coming out for breaks, food and cuddles.

I can't compare to other kittens size but she is very young and petite, maybe it plays a role. I only had her for 2 weeks before she gave birth, so not a lot of time to fatten her up.

Thank you, I am trying my best with no experience ;)

Oh, the rest of the umbilical cords all fell off today.

Thank you all again for your help!

What is your kitten"s name, he looks adorable!

I did remove Vic when he got to aggressive and he was so pissed! I redirected him a few times and he calmed down.

Happy Sunday,

Nothing new on the kittens front, they are eating, fighting and sleeping :) I will be able to weight them tonight, I found someone who has a kitchen scale, yeah. Will do it again tomorrow night and report on the weight gain.

Zoé played for the first time today, I am so happy! She perked up and finally agreed to chase the mouse toy.

Here the bundle of cuteness:

Good evening everybody,

I have weights!

On day 4

Pepita: 145 g

Bob: 148 g

Vic: 171 g

Cotton: 167 g

I will weight them again tomorrow night to see how much they gain in a day but assuming that they had an average birth-weight from 90 to 100 g, they are fine for day 4, no?

So Cotton is not the runt, It seems to be Pepita. But she is smaller in than the terrible twins, aka Vic and Cotton, in general.

Bob is still the lazy eater.

They are all very active, walking like little drunks around the nest and their mother, fighting and cuddling :)

weight gains look good.  Weigh them every day at the same time.

I love that you are seeing the different personalities already.

Thanks @Handsome Kitty !

Never a dull moment... Bob worried me a lot this morning, he was crying out loud and didn't want to eat, couldn't settle and seemed distressed. I called the vet and she said it might be colic, so I should massage his tummy. I did and he is calm now, eating again. I will weight him tonight, hopefully he didn't lose weight. Vic and Cotton are huge and eating tons, I have to intervene often to let Pepita and Bob get a chance to eat. Pepita is holding her own and doesn't let the bullies get her off. All tummies look full now. :)

I would definitely keep an eye on Bob. What you said about him being too lazy to eat is a red flag for me. I wonder if he actually isn't getting enough and needs to be supplemented. He also could have been fussy today if he were hungry.

Yes @talkingpeanut , I am watching him like a hawk. He is eating a lot this past few hours, fourth feeding right now and is plumping up. The weight in tonight should tell us if he gained. I hope so....Supplementing would be complicated because they don't sell KRM here, not even at the vet. I would have to try to get some goat milk, which is also not common. Are they any other options?

Yes, you can make your own "kitten glop" with evaporated milk, an egg, sugar or honey, plain yogurt, etc. Can you get these ingredients?

Or you can order KMR online from Amazon and other places that ship worldwide.

Yes, I have all those ingredients! Good to hear that would work out.  Amazon does not ship to Colombia, sadly.

I will be ready to fee him tonight if the weigh-in is not good. For now, I encourage Zoé to spend more time with the kittens and hope that he will perk up by himself.

Thansk again, @talkingpeanut

It's good you have the ingredients. You'll want to feed Pepita also if she is not gaining. The kittens need to gain at least 6-10 grams daily.

Yes, I will feed Pepita if she didn't gain enough but today, she is looking good and spending way more time eating. I think she should be ok tonight, hopefully!

What a cute little family. It's amazing how they have developed their own "personalities" at such a young age. It will be interesting to see if they sitck as they get older.

Thank you! Yes, I am amazed at how different they behave. Pepita likes to cuddle with mum, she is the only one doing that. She gets under her chin and sleeps there. Adorable.

Vic the terror with a full belly:
