Hello!
I have 2 rescued cats, Motito and Shadow, they have less than a year with me. Since the beginning i feed them with dry Hills science diet for indor kittens but recently i discovered that cats should eat more protein rich foods and science diet does not provide the requirements, can someone help me and teach me what foods are healthier for my beloved babies? I want to give them the best so they can be with me a lot of years!

There really isn't a "perfect" food to feed. For some people, this means raw or home cooked foods. For others, it's the best quality commerical brand they can afford and the cat will eat.

If you want to stick with commerical food, there are plenty of good brands out there
Take a trip to the local pet stores to see what brands are offered. Check both the chains and the independent pet stores. The independent stores typically carry the really high end brands. Some brands to look into: Nature's Variety Instinct, Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Weruva, Tiki Cat, Nutro.

if the cats will eat canned food, try to feed only that. It's healthier for the cats and will keep them well hdyrated. A little dry can be fed. A combo dry and canned diet works for most people. 50/50 is good but if yo can feed more canned, that would be best.

Here are some threads about affordable canned foods:

I'm not familiar with good dry foods other than Nature's Variety Instinct. I've heard that Orijen dry is good and resonably priced.

To add to what LTS3 said, canned foods with meats as the first ingredients are the best way to get at that protein. I avoid corn, wheat, peas, and similar vegetable and grain fillers because they're not what cats really need.

Our vet especially recommends high-protein, grain-free canned food diets for Siamese and Siamese mixes because she says they tend to have digestive issues... I mention that because it looks like you have a Siamese cat. We adopted our cats (Siamese mixes) at ten months and found that good foods really made a quick difference for them (including one cat's stomach issues) after they came to us underfed.

Congratulations on looking into better food for your cats! They are gorgeous btw!

I'm not really an expert on nutrition myself, but my cat and I both like Nature's Variety Instinct! I've fed mine wet and dry. The dry is a little cheaper than Orijen here, but it's still a pretty good dry cat food...as far as dry cat foods go, I guess! What I like about Nature's Variety canned food is that it gives him good solid poops, whereas some of the other canned foods give him loose and stinky poops.

I'm about to switch my cat to commercial raw though, since I've been researching that kibble isn't the best for them. But if kibble is what you can get/afford, I give a thumbs up to Nature's Variety Instinct and Orijen from my own experience!

Another dry food you could try is Go!fit and free. I checked it out and it's one of the lower carb dry foods and has a nice ingredient list.

ETA: I'm ordering a bag each of the Origen and Go! Fit and Free to try on my furbabies.
