Hey Guys!
So, due to recent money troubles I had to cut expenses back. And, since my boy eats the expensive 'Blue Buffalo - Wilderness', cat food had to be one of those expenses.
I love Blue Buffalo, my cat loves Blue Buffalo. He won't touch Purina or Hills.
Naturally, I needed to experiment, but it had to be done in an affordable way.
I shop at PetSmart a lot, so I get discounts, so that's where I started browsing online at prices and looking at ingredients. I did some other Google-searching on other brands at other places. But, for everything in my ideal price range it felt like my options were all bags that just listed by-product + a bunch of hard to pronounce minerals.
It's official, Blue Buffalo has made me a food snob. The last time I had cats I used to snort and roll my eyes at people in line at the store while they raved about "Holistic" and "Real Chicken!" while I held my economy-size bag of Purina One that was on sale and tapped my foot impatiently.
Then I didn't have a pet for awhile, I became a Veterinary Technician and now that I have a kitten I'm obsessed with nutrition. It kills me that my 6 month old kitten doesn't want wet food. He eats Blue Buffalo because I am now a "fru-fru" pet owner who wants apple bits, carrots and oatmeal in my pet food! Plus, I tried other brands and he turns his nose up at them.
I wanted something I could afford that had a hint of veggies in it and a minimal amount of by-product.
On the PetSmart website I came across a FANTASTICALLY priced brand that I had never heard of before called "Good Natured".
I Googled it, but couldn't find results anywhere but PetSmart.
Turns out: It's a brand new PetSmart specific brand! I really like the ingredients: No by-product, hints of veggies, dried egg and the usual necessary minerals and the added omegas.
I just wanted to throw it out there because I know a lot of people ask about affordable foods that are nutritious for foster situations and such! I'm currently in the middle of switching Gage to it (mixing it with the Blue Buffalo) and he seems to eat all of it! So far so good! No GI upset and he will actually eat it!
Here is a picture if you want to look it up on the PetSmart website!
If anyone isn't a fan of PetSmart or anything weird, or has had experience with this brand - please feel free to comment! I am just starting out with the food and, though I am having good experience with it so far, don't want to lead anyone in the wrong direction!
