Switched over thinking it was a 100% natural diet, and my cat loves the wet food. Now, however, I am seeing that blue buffalo (not sure if the same) is being sued and FDA issues. Anyone? If so, can you recommend a 100% healthy, natural wet food for cats? I tried making my own food in the past and they would not touch it... thanks.

One of my favourite brands is Nature's Variety, in particular the Limited Ingredient version

I don't think it's toxic but the brand has had problems particularly with the dog food line. After the melamine pet food issue years back, it seems that toxicity in pet foods is brought to light more quickly.  Because they have had problems, pet owners can attribute the problems their pets are having to the food they are eating, when it might be something else.

There are so many different brands of food, I can't tell for sure which ones are independent. For example, Merricks was  purchased by Purina. The pet food supply chain is pretty limited and a lot of companies are connected  by where they get their ingredients.

I've tried Wellness, Blue Buffalo, Instinct, Merricks, Weruva, Addiction, and some like them and some don't. One cat needs more moisture in his food and so I started using the Primal and Stella and Chewy's freeze dried raw for him. I make the water warmer and use more of it than the recipe calls for. He likes it. The others aren't interested.

I end up getting a lot of different brands in both big and small cans because everyone has their "I won't even look at that" choices

Blue Wilderness is a line within the Blue Buffalo brand. http://bluebuffalo.com/for-cats/product-lines/wilderness-cat-food/

The brand isn't toxic but has had issues with producing food that have been subject to recalls for various reasons. The best way to be informed about pet food recalls is to follow the company news section of the pet food company web site and on the FDA web site.

Nature's Variety Instinct is good as are Weruva, Tiki Cat, Soulistic, Nutro, and many others. Here are some other suggestions:

You can browse around the local pet stores, both the chains and the independent ones, to see what brands are offered and read the labels or just write down the brand of anything that seems good and later check the brand's web site for more info
