3 miles walked outside during my lunch hour. That gives me 5 miles for the day.

It is very, very nice outside today.

I managed to get a 2.5 mile walk in today despite the snowy sidewalks. After almost falling for the third time, I called it a day. It feels like I walked over 4 miles though because it was tough walking.

Reason why I have not done walking test yet is that it is two steps forward and you move like would of taken one step, tomorrow getting worse here, above zero with liquid material from the sky, then freezes for a night, certainly won't be walking for few days, winter tires to bicycle and it should work ok.

Only 3 months of snow and ice left here, then bigger roads starts to be open, 4 months and mud season starts on smaller roads, I don't know if it cheers you up that you don't need to have our winter :)

30 minutes of hit workout on the elliptical (it was the death of me after 3 days of not working out). I can't believe how rapidly your cardiovascular fitness can decline in just a few days! Strength stays longer, but dang I was wheezing! After that I did abs.

I took a day off today. I had some extra work and loads of errands to run. I'll be back tomorrow.

Keep going everyone, you're doing great.

YakTrax. They are great for walking in snow and ice. And they're not real expensive, but you can get knock-offs at WalMart. I can jog/run when I'm wearing my YakTrax and I won't slip. They really dig in to the ice. I go through a pair every season. (I am so afraid of falling and breaking something.)

JTbo, if I had to deal with your weather, I think I'd go into hiberation and never come back out!

Good work, people! I'll be back after my walk during lunch today. I couldn't get on the treadmill this morning because Rick brought me into work due to some freezing rain issues, so I was in my office bright and early.

4 miles walked today during lunch. Since I came in so early this morning, I took some extra time during lunch to get in a bit more of a walk. It's really nice outside!

I think Tammat might like to read this, I think there is some credibility on that text:
http://home.trainingpeaks.com/blog/article/the-importance-of-carbohydrates-and-glycogen-for-a

I can feel myself clear difference if I get too little carbs, my legs will get tired at uphill sooner, but for my exercise level it is quite small amount of carbs that should be enough.

Muscle craving for glycogen might be something that could be part of the reason why I want sweets so badly at times. Sometimes I have got only around 30 grams of carbs in a day and having harder workout days can use them quite quickly.

I have difficulties to eat enough small amount, I don't see point nibbling tiny bit and doing more time dishes than eating, so I tend to eat just once a day.
What I have read is that glycogen storage can't last much more than 24 hours, so when I eat glycogen storage is quite low and most of what I eat refills glycogen storage in muscles. Then rest gets to fat, some fat is converted to energy in next 24 hours and also glycogen is depleted.

With eating more often, in theory I would get more glycogen from carbs I eat and waist measurement might be bit more stable.

We got bit of freezing water from the sky today, it seems I spend my day with reading instead of exercising, last two hours I have had urge to swap to winter tires and go ride, but I'm sleepy already, who knows, maybe I go for ride anyway or not :D

Thanks jtbo jtbo I have a meal of protein and carbs after I finish training and eat very little carbs at other times of the day. Knowing how much is enough but not too much is where I struggle so the article will help a lot. :D

Yesterday I did my back, shoulders and abs. I also went for a 25 min walk after dinner.
Today is legs day. I have a brand new pair of shorts to wear. They are red and although I don't want to go any faster I think they will help me do better ;) It was only a few years ago that I would not even wear shorts because my legs were too out of shape. Exercise is awesome
Keep going everybody. :sheep:

Yes, they're pretty much like the YakTrax. They criss-cross under the shoe. They really bite into snow and ice. Do you like yours? Do yours work well, too?

The only problem I can find is that they usually only last one season. Part of the problem is that you're not supposed to wear them on dry roads; they're really meant for snow and ice. The problem is that (and I mentioned this before) not all property owners clean their sidewalks and as passersby walk in the snow, they wear it down and it eventually turns into an icy mess. I am scared to death of falling (I have osteopenia and my doctor always says, "Whatever you do, don't fall!). So I wear the YakTrax until I know that sidewalks are clear, the sides of the roads are OK, etc. So part of the time, I walk on ice and snow; the other part I'm on dry roads. And the coils aren't made for dryness....and they will break/snap. I usually end up buying a new pair at the beginning of the winter season. Still, I suppose it's cheaper than falling down and breaking a bone.

2.25 miles on the treadmill this morning.

This is exactly what I was going to ask. Part of the time I would be on dry sidewalks.

3.50 miles walked during my lunch break today. It is considerably chillier and breezier today than it was yesterday.

So that's 5.75 miles walked today.

I used to brush my teeth as soon as I finished eating dinner, trying to stave off snack attacks. Overall, it went fairly well.

OK, the treadmill is working again. We don't know how long it's going to last. We spent a good two hours in the basement yesterday, greasing and tightening and trying to get the belt running without that insane squeak. And working on the drive motor and all kinds of stuff. The walking belt is starting to tear, not badly, but we can see the fray.  I'm going to have to call somebody to see about putting a new belt on.

2 miles on the treadmill this morning. (And it was fairly quiet, too. Hardly any squeaking and none of that really loud squawking that it was doing. And while the drive motor -- or whatever it is -- did go from 3.0 down to 2.3 and then back up, that's all it did. Lasted about ten seconds and I was on and walking. We'll see.)
:woohoo: Glad to hear it's going again  Be careful

Everyone is steaming along. We rock!!!!:D

1 hour and 7 minutes of bicycling.

Burned 786 calories.

Snow, about 3 inches and on top of snow thin layer of ice, so ice gave in and under than snow was loose, it was bit of grinding, I felt like being on rowing machine instead on bike, balancing required quite bit of work and it was lot slower than walking, but burned good amount of calories.

Oh yes, it was 3 am when I did go for a ride, like I would of been alone in whole world, that really felt good!
