ohh, very good to know. I may try that cut down with some carbonated water...might be too sweet for me otherwise even though I do like pineapple.

My starting weight is 195lbs. I am only 5'1 and not meant to be so heavy. Two doctors have told me I should be around 130. At one time I was at 135 and I felt good, so 130-135 is my goal.

I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom if I'm not mistaken. Basicaly, I have a cyst on my ovary and it has caused a drop in estrogen and an increase in testosterone. It has also caused me to gain weight. 50lbs to be exact, in one year. I am taking a medication called Metformin, which is a diabetes medication. I do not have diabetes but the gyno says it will help with all the weight gain I've had. I've been on the medication for about two months and have lost about 7lbs without changing diet or excersize. I am walking more (getting paid to walk the dogs) and eating less. Hopefully I can make my goal of losing 47 more lbs by this time next year.

For those that have hit a plateu switching up your exercise is a great tip but also switch up what and how much your eating. Ie: Day 1 eat mostly carbs (higher in calories) then progressivly eat less carbs and more lean protien/veggies as the days progress which will also lower your calorie intake. By changing like this your body can't establish a pattern which means it'll burn what your eating instead of storing it.
Those are very good ides!

Ok, last night I got out early and my neighbors water heater went out and the landlord was there fixing it, so we delayed doing are stuff till he left. Then he was going to be coming back so we started with are end stuff of the crunches and extra stretches and such then went into the full workout to make sure we got some of everything done. We managed to get it all done, did a 30 min. work out and I did 50 crunches she did 27. She also got her back stretches done. (she broke her back a few years back and it helps her out with this thingy she's got that's made for that.) I had a nice healty dinner of pork loin on the grill, carrots and whole cranberry sauce. DH was mad though cuz he couldn't eat any of it! (too hard) So, I'm going to try to think of something soft for dinner tonight that he can eat oo but still be healthy for me! Any suggestions?

Well, DH won and got what he wanted fror dinner! Not healthy but he did OK with it. Hot dogs and mac n cheese! Ewe! I could pass on having that again for dinner for a long time! Me and the neighbor got our workout in. Did 45 minutes. Burned 486 cals. She did 23 crunches. I did... 100!
We both also did our leg lifts and stretches! Good thing I did extra cuz with the dinner I needed to. Hot dogs.. tisk tisk! The rest of my day was really good though. I had strawberry yogurt with granola for breakfast and homemade shrimp stir fry for lunch (boss's daughter made it). I drank all my water for the day and feel good. I'm confident that next week I will be down the 2 lbs. Plus Sunday me and the neighbor are going to try for our 5 mile walk. On labor day we are going to walk the brindge to the U.P. which is 5 miles long. So we need to start practicing! Wish us luck.

Kick butt! We *used* to do a five mile trail around a park in the Pittsburgh area but.. we haven't done that in a long time. We'd park at one end and walk all the way around until we got back to it. Didn't have much choice at that point, since we couldn't do anything but keep walking to get back to the car. We'd just take it fairly slow if needed and keep going till we got there. Good luck and good job!

All you exercisers are doing so great!
I've got 11 days left, and I'm doing "ok" but not great. Lunches are what kill me. I took in a couple pieces leftover chicken yesterday (baked) for lunch so we'll see what happens when I weigh this morning. Oh, I made a really good dinner with chicken breasts, and a barbecue sauce made with ketchup and diet coke. Tastes JUST like BBQ sauce, and the meat literally fell apart!

My weigh-in is tomorrow morning, and I'm already dreading it. I've had a good week, but I'd had a good week last week and still gained 2 pounds for no reason.
Me and my body are totally in a fight.

On the plus side (no pun intended), tomorrow night I'm going to a formal event and am finally able to squeeze into my little black dress -- and it actually looks good on me!
So, "yay" for non-scale victories!

Thanks so much. I think we'll be ok, we are not going to go for time at all, just make sure we can do it. There are places along the way to sit down and to get a drink of water so we will be fine. I'm hopeing to not have to stop. I'm a little further along that the neighbor but we have to do it together so I won't be mad if we have to stop for breaks!

See.. even if you and your body are not on speaking terms you've told it who's boss and got into your dress. Isn't it just a great feeling to have those small things fall into place? Congrats!

Eh, only put so much emphasis on the scale. Obviously your body is changing regardless of the fact that you're not losing weight according to the scale. I'd do some measurements and keep track of those at this point, I think.. it'll give you a better idea of whether it's weight loss/gain, or the transition between fat and muscle..

If you made it into a little black dress that was previously too small, then you're heading in the right direction regardless of what the scale says!

I just wanted to post to tell all you guys how terribly Jim and I failed on our diets this week ;_; Well, a lot of it was because I had to stay really long at work this week, but...

Anyway! Yesterday we had a barbecue because one of the coworkers is leaving, and the only things they had to drink was soda or beer
And I don't like beer so I had a soda *cry*. And a few hours ago I had some really unhealthy Chinese food
BUT! I did hold back and didn't eat any of the crab puffs
A couple days ago I also had some Taco Bell taco and some of those delicious fries from KFC because the company had a frisbee-lunch day or whatever. WAAAH!!!

Oh yeah and Jim ate like a whole carton of ice cream. I had maybe 3 bites! Geez!!!!

I told Jim under no circumstances are we allowed to skip working out or biking tomorrow!!

Not to burst your bubble but I have given up on my pedometer, the doc told me they can over-estimate your steps by up to 300 times! every jiggle they count so unless you are just walking and don't stop it doesn't have anywhere near the correct count

Although I guess the extra walk to and from work helped as I lost 1.8lbs this week

It's hard to get in the swing of it, but you'll get it eventually. You're not making the "best" and always "correct" choices, but you're obviously making some choices that are better for you than others. It's a step in the right direction, even if it doesn't feel that way to you. Just think of it this way (it helps me) the more "right" choices you make, the more you'll see the results! It helps when I'm standing in the fridge going.. hmmmm.. I really want something sweet...

As long as you don't make it a habit and continue to choose different and better choices that you normaly would or cut back the portions, you are going to be fine. One thing I know most of us don't think about is when you are losing weight you don't have to lose 2 lbs every single week. You didn't gain it that way and you won't lose it that way. You will fluctuate. It'll be alright even if you both do gain a little this week! Just work real hard and keep up with your exercises!

My problem with the pedometer is that I don't walk hard enough to get it to pick up but about half of my steps. I counted before and then checked and it was way off. I walk very softly and it's hard to get a good count. The closest for me to get it was to put in on my shoe by my ankle. Also... some pedometers pick up each step individualy and others only pick up each SET of steps. So it also depends on that. But just keeping up with your progress even if it's off some is better because you are more aware of doing something.
