    Mature cat diets

Thanks for the message of support and advice.  It may well have been the nurse who I had to dismiss last week because she wasn't treating my partner well.  Simone seemed to have perked up when I told her too.  I have a new nurse who tells me she loves cats so it's a wait and see game.  Simone...

    Mature cat diets

Simone is 14,5 years old.  For the past month I have been struggling to feed her.   She would enjoy the wet food biscuits - Iams Mature.  And because she has IBD, I would feed her some Hills AD mixed with Laxolon (lactulose) to help her bowels.  And then 1/2 a Prednisolone every second day. ...

    Puffy eye

Hi guys - it's been chaotic on the home front and busy at work so I've not had time to give an update on Simone.  Her puffy eye has gone.  She's doing great.  I haven't had thecourage to try the raw food diet but I am feeding her a whole lot more wet food.  She's loving it.  Her coat is good. ...

    Vets vs. raw feeding

Thanks for making me laugh.  I haven't done that in over a week

Your recommendation is a great one.  When I first wanted to take Simone in for her eye I left because the waiting room was packed with dogs, and one Alsatian that looked at every little dog as a taste bite.  It was a hot day and I asked the receptionist to call me when there was a space.  I sat...

    Vets vs. raw feeding

Yesterday I went to the vet to get my cat more food.  Still the Iams Senior chicken pouches.  But I refused to buy Eukanuba Intestinals and insisted they have me alterate samples.  So I was given Eukanuba Adult Rich in Chicken with Liver.  She's still finishing her Eukanuba Intestinals but I...

    Puffy eye

You weren't. I realised that which is why I explained what I was doing.  I can't even begin to tell you how depressed I am.  Everytime I look at a Photo of my cats, my heart just breaks.  Going to the vet makes me even more depressed, even why I just buy food.  I wonder just how many cat...

    Puffy eye

thank you, oh wise one.  I'm not sure if you are misunderstanding the level of what I'm doing.  Just as we humans wipe the'gunk' at the base of our tear duct, I've been wiping this clean but using an eye wash solution on a small piece of cotton wool.  As to how often, I am doing this once a day...

    Puffy eye

Hi y'all.  An update.  I stopped the drops after 10 days, deciding she had had enough of being trapped and eyes dropped.  I don't know how many of you have cats who pull at your heartstrings like this one.  Once I have dropped her eyes, she buries her head in my armpit and won't come out until...

    new to raw feeding

I'm still stewing over feeding my cat raw.  Has anyone else out there tried changing their cat's diet at the age of ... well ... she will be 14 years old next month?

Thanks.  I need all the advice I can get.

    new to raw feeding

Thank you.  My cat is 13.5 years old.  I hope she takes to this new treat.  I've never fed her raw.

    new to raw feeding

I'm curious about the recommendation to feed my cat raw chicken wing tips.  I normally buy my chicken "fresh" and then portion them (yes, we're talking a small household) and then freeze the portions.  Inevitably I have a bounty of wings sitting in the freezer.  Is it OK to defrost these and...

    thinking of starting raw diet

I'm new to the forum.  After losing 2 cats in the space of 6 months and fearful of losing another, I am eager to learn all there is about Raw .  I live in South Africa and here vets endlessly tell us we must feed our animals dry pellets for their dental health.  Now all I'm reading here is RAW...

    Puffy eye

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have persisted with the drops but reduced it to 3x a day.  Her eye is improved.  Her voice is a little croaky so I'm guessing that the tear duct is clearing because it's draining down her throat.  Today she was more perky and less wary of me.  We believe our cat...

    Eukanuba Intestinals

Thanks for the great advice.  We've never tried feeding her raw food.  I live in South Africa and vets over here insist on dry biscuits based on the argument that it's necessary for dental health.  I will try alternative wet foods and see how she goes.
