    Suddenly violent towards other cat?

I have had to separate the aggressive one, by putting her in my bedroom, which was her safe room back when we first adopted her. I gave them the baths myself at home, using the same shampoos on each cat. They have never been cuddly, but they would at least play fight or give each other...

    Suddenly violent towards other cat?

Out of the blue, isis has been attacking saki anytime saki gets close to me while isis is sitting on me. This has never happened before, and the only change is that they had a bath the other day with a new shampoo? Is a trip to the vet in our horizons?

    the little weirdo....

@jcat: that's exactly what I think she's doing! I swear she's just talking to herself like a kid playing pretend!

    the little weirdo....

quick question: does anyone's cats go around the house meowing to themselves?!?!? My little Isis seems to like to play with toys and meow while she is doing it, but she doesn't seem to be calling to anyone, which is usually what is happening when she is meowing.... I'm just confused and...

    keeping kitty out

Thanks willowy, that's exactly what happens. I found that with fresh wheat grass plants, she will eat a bit, but much more than that and its clean up time, although the other cat loves the grass and does not puke.

    keeping kitty out

So here the current siituation: We have two cats, isis and saki, and two indoor house bunnies, rusty & elias. The rabbits live cage-free in the spare bedroom, but I always have to fence their entry off with baby gates and screens or just shutting the door completely, thus segrating them from...

    tongue stuck on itself?!?!

yeah, i kind of wish i had been home at the time, so that i could validate or dismiss her diagnosis of the situation, but i'll never know unless Isis decides to grace me with a repeat performance. I'm hoping not though! =)

    tongue stuck on itself?!?!

So i come home from class tonight to find out from my sister (she's living w/my husband and i) that Isis has decided to get her tongue stuck on itself. as my sister described it, it was like when a human rolls their tongue back on itself to touch, but since a cat's tongue has all those barbs for...

    Don't pick me up!

I dunno about cats much, since mine both are fine with being picked up, and one even encourages me to, but with rabbits, it's all about positive reinforcement. do very short sessions, just gently pick the cat up, and then set the cat down. give kitty a treat immediately after being set down, but...

    will they ever get along?

I guess I'm that person that wants all my animals to get along like they're the best of friends, but in reality, that isn't always the case (more like it's rarely the case). they seem to co-exist fine, and that's all I can hope for I suppose. thanks for your input guys!

    will they ever get along?

okay, so i guess i'll just assume they're co-habitating fine, and all that, since neither one has ever ever ever hisses or taken a swipe at any of us humans, and only get into spats about once a day, especially when the catnip is out. I do leave them out together when we're not home, since when...

    will they ever get along?

yeah, as far as feeding time goes, they don't eat in the same room at all. it's when I dish up their food that Isis gets aggressive and tries to make saki get out of the kitchen, which is where Isis eats her meals....hmmm.... just had a thought.... maybe if I move Isis' meals out of the kitchen...

    keeping cool

<sorry it's taken so long to reply> thanks for the reassurances Ducman and Rosiemac. I only really know about rabbits, and how finicky they are about heat and such, so I worried that the girls would be getting too hot, being both long-ish haired cats and all. they seem to be fine though, and I...

    will they ever get along?

so I've had Isis and Saki for over a year now, and they have not decided who's top cat in this house. They co-habitate most of the time, but almost every morning, when cats are let out of their respective rooms (saki sleeps w/my sister, Isis with my husband and me), Isis will go and try to bite...

    keeping cool

so summer has finally hit where I live, and I'm wondering how to keep Isis and saki cool through this heat. neither are overweight, and they have been choosing spots in the shade to rest and such. I have a couple of 14"x14" tiles set on the ground for them to rest upon, should they choose to...

    aggressive at meal time

since my first post on this subject I have started to squirt Isis every time she starts to smack Saki, and this has only helped to keep Saki out of the kitchen during food preparation time. I'm going to have to keep thinking of ways to keep them away from me while I'm dishing up the food.... I...

    aggressive at meal time

it's the friskies canned food, I believe the 5.5 oz can? they haven't been losing any weight or anything, and have been on this regime for close to a year, so I don't think it could be too little food... Also, Saki (the one that gets punched at meal time), has a bit of pudge on her, so I'm...

    aggressive at meal time

sorry, they are fed twice a day. @ 7 am, they get a 1/4 cup dry food, @ 7 pm they get half a can of wet food. I'm trying to be strong and not lazy about removing their food after about a 1/2 hour, but tend to not be consistent, so maybe saki is eating some of Isis's dry food in the mornings...

    aggressive at meal time

i do feed them at the same time, but in completely separate areas. it's only when i'm preparing the food (dishing their wet food out of the can into their bowls) that the one starts to smack the other. once the food's down and in their respective places, they're fine. should I let the aggressor...
