It always blows my mind that kittens I've had almost from birth can still have parasites. Do they get passed on in utero or do they get it from mom's milk, however little they might have gotten from her?
Hey everybody! Got another foster on my hands, cutest darn thing ever and was super easy until just recently. For about three days now she's had very loose yellow stool, and has been partially incontinent which is very rare for her. My staff vet started her on Benebac but she's only had one dose...
Unfortunately she has the tortietude IN SPADES. She's been with us a few days and still tries to eat our eyeballs when we approach her. I'm suspicious that she may be feral as she's a stray cat but hopefully (for us anyway) she's just a very scared sweet lady.
So I always believed that a calico cat was primarily white, with solid, defined patches of other colors, usually black and red. A tortie has a black base coat and brown and orange sort of brindle pattern with no defined patches of color (other than maybe the face and legs, from what I've seen)...
So I work with cats at an animal shelter and we had a mama come in with a litter of three. The two females are mini-mes of mama, though I think one will end up with a longer coat, but the male...I can't deal with how adorably handsome he is. Since mama is all black I'm wondering if anybody has...
Hey guys, so I took Boris in to my staff vet because he was very lethargic this morning, and it looks like I'm losing another one to Fading Kitten. I had hoped since he had passed his week mark that we would be out of the woods but apparently that isn't the case with him. It's always painful to...
I've had him since Sunday the 4th, so exactly a week. I know he's not gaining as quickly as he should but in my personal experience I've seen that a lot with kittens who have been with mum for a few days. KMR just isn't as good as the real stuff! I have also just ordered some Miracle Nipples so...
You might consider checking out Kitten Lady's website. She has loads of videos and articles and I believe she has great informational booklets free of charge or low-cost for shelters. I love how you're organizing things with temp fosters and everything! The biggest thing I wish I had heard was...
Also I forgot to mention he was obviously very small when he was born, so I'm wondering if the fast breathing might be his lungs still developing. We're assuming he was the runt and maybe mama left him behind.
Hey everyone! I'm new hear but I work at an animal shelter and I've been fostering neonates for about two years now. Each kitten always seems to have its own unique issues and now I have one I've not experienced before. His breathing is very fast while resting - around 90 BPM. He weighs in at...
