Double Trouble -- New cat won't integrate and becomes suddenly aggressive

Good advice, thank you. I'll be sure to take my time with him and give him some leeway if he still seems upset or frustrated with me.

Double Trouble -- New cat won't integrate and becomes suddenly aggressive

I really think this is the case, because he only ever acts in this "aggressive" way around mom. She can become very frightened and jumpy and I think he is mirroring her to some extent. If he acts this way towards me while in my room (or he doesn't) then we will know what the culprit is-- that my...

Double Trouble -- New cat won't integrate and becomes suddenly aggressive

My mother, unfortunately, has been feeling uncomfortable sleeping in her room, so I've offered to take Boo into my room instead, so she can at least relax at night. I will do my best to set up more toys for him and play with him on a regular schedule. I'm going to write out an outline for the...

Double Trouble -- New cat won't integrate and becomes suddenly aggressive

Thank you for the resources, I will look at them tonight. I will have mom and dad talk together tonight at the dinner table to see what we can come up with as a routine for this cat and stick to it. I have offered to have Boo Bear in my room instead so mom doesn't have to feel afraid of him...

Double Trouble -- New cat won't integrate and becomes suddenly aggressive

I think I have to agree. The problem is, my mother is a very nervous person naturally, not to mention, as I said, she had been mauled by a cat in the past. She connects those two dots and has a really hard time with Boo now. Do you have any suggestions as to how to allay her fears?

Double Trouble -- New cat won't integrate and becomes suddenly aggressive

Grey Lady -- I live with my parents. He is all our cat, we went to pick him out together. I honestly don't feel any fear from him. When he walks around, his posture is confident, and he greets us with his tail up and eyes bright. I don't think he's afraid of Bliss. My dad built a sort of cat...

Double Trouble -- New cat won't integrate and becomes suddenly aggressive

Hi everyone, you can call me Otter. I'm an experienced cat owner that's lived with cats my whole life, and I'm stumped by the problem I'm having right now. For the past 10 years, we've had a female cat named Bliss. She's a small domestic shorthair mackeral tabby rescue with no breeding to speak...

We've Always Kept Cats In Pairs... Until Now. What's Your Opinion?

Hello everyone! I hope you're having a nice day. I tend to be a little overly detailed about my posts, but I like all the information to be clear right from the get-go so questions and clarifications can be minimal! So here's the story: I'm a grown adult, but I live with my parents still...

Cat Won't Eat - Long Story

@carebare @maggiedemi Happy update! After a long, fruitful cuddle session last night, Bliss improved dramatically. She was munching on a little kibble last night, and now is taking in a more normal amount of food. Still just kibble, hilariously, when we have offered her all sorts of special...

Cat Won't Eat - Long Story

@maggiedemi She is meh about it. Normally she needs no incentive to play so we don't use it that often. Update: the antibiotic was called "Clavamox"

Cat Won't Eat - Long Story

@carebare they did give her an IV when we took her in yesterday, maybe that flushed her? She doesn't have a fever or infection, her cast is off and the wound is healed nicely. She doesn't groom it or mess with it. @maggiedemi they just decided to cut the antibiotic because the wound has healed...

Cat Won't Eat - Long Story

Hi everybody. I've been lurking these forums for the past few days hoping that an old post might be able to help, but I haven't seen anything like my case, so I thought I'd sign up and try this out myself. Last Saturday, our cat Bliss (female 7/yo DSH) hurt herself on her back paw. She ripped...
