Worried, please answer. Possible hyperthyroidism - Is it okay to wait to go to the vet?

Seems like you are making a lot of dietary changes all at once. I agree about the raw food. Be very careful. If it was me, I would probably put her back on her original food ) if these changes are recent) until you have this all figured out. Please try not to think of the worst.

    C.R.F..

It's nice your girl is still enjoying life. Play is so important. She sounds like she's doing well. Glad for you. And her. :)

    C.R.F..

Hi Katocats, Tess is having a "no eating day" today. She has been so quiet since yesterday. Seems to be having difficulty moving around, and even had a hard time getting up on to the sofa. And now I am wondering about how well she is seeing. Seems her vision is off. Today I couldn't find her...

Help! Sudden onset cough and wheeze

It turned out that Jasper had a bad flu. He was very auck for over a month. So sick that our vet took him home with home for a few days so he could watch him. Jasper had 3 scopes total, two different types of antibiotics, a couple doses of a steroid and some pain medication. We really thought we...

    C.R.F..

Hey there Katocats, Just checking in. So sorry your news wasn't better. Our kitties are in the same boat in terms of function. Tess is also at around 20%. We went last evening and got more fluids. And the special kidney food ( which she just picked at). My vet talked about showing me how to...

    C.R.F..

I did read it, yes. Tess is going back to the vets this week. I'm not sure they tested her potassium levels, but she has been having these mini episodes where her whole body shakes. It reminds me of a seizure, but only lasts seconds. It's very scary to see when it happens. I did read somewhere...

    C.R.F..

Katocats, My girl kitty Tess was just diagnosed with the same thing. I just found out late yesterday's afternoon. Like you, I am reeling from this news. It just never occurred to me. I had taken her in because she just wasn't acting like herself. She has been sleeping much more and started to...

Help! Sudden onset cough and wheeze

Hello all, I haven't been here in a while. I used to post a lot about my boy kitty Jasper, who was a marker. Well, right now all that is under control, but yesterday began a nightmare. Jasper, right now, after seeing 3 vets since last night, ( to the tune of $700) is here coughing and...

    Kneading - normal or not?

Well, I took Jasper in to see the vet yesterday. I just had to be sure. He's fine. The vet said he was the calmest she has ever seen him. She said he is acting like a "normal" cat, and that he is probably a lot less anxious in his new environment. She actually couldn't believe it was the same...

Moving 14 year old kitty - into home with 2 cats

It could take a while longer. The last time I introduced a new cat it took about 2 months. Even now, once in a while, there will be a scuffle, but no one gets hurts. This is a big change for all of them, especially your guy. They will need to figure out just who belongs where in the household...

    Kneading - normal or not?

Thank you for your reply. He was neutered over 7 years ago though. He's acting fine. He's very quiet today, which is a bit abnormal for him. I'll keep an eye out for anything further. Make sure he's using the litter box and such, and watch for any signs of pain. If nothing else pops up I'll...

    Not in, Not out

She will get used to being inside. She's still young. If it were me, I wouldn't take her out at all. Spend the time playing with her instead. Taking her out is just teasing her at this point. Believe me, you can have a happy indoor kitty. I have one that I had to listen to cry for a whole year...

    Kneading - normal or not?

Thank you for replying. Yes, he was neutered at about 8 months old, after he was rescued as a stray. He's now 8, and this is new behavior. He started it just a few days ago. He will also turn around and around, like he can't quite make up his mind just where he wants to lay down. He'll finally...

Not quite "Hellish" but definitely a pain in my butt. (Cat behaviorist needed)

Play with your kitty right before bedtime. The best toy I ever got is one called Da Bird. It's a feather on a pole with a string. It's about $8 at any pet store. All you have to do is sit there while you're watching TV and flick that thing back and forth. The cat will go nuts chasing it and...

    Keeping Cats Inside

I have a cat that was an outdoor guy when I got him. After he got torn apart by another neighbor cat I started keeping him inside. It's been over 2 years and he still wants to go out. If he had the chance he would dart right out the door. We're careful. And so is anyone that comes over. He...
