Sounds like a reasonable number of animals to me (as I sit beside my leopard gecko while watching my fish tank with a dog napping on my feet.)
Oh man, a ball python is totally on my wishlist of pets. They are so chill. What morph are you thinking of getting?
Getting them to play together is a great idea! That would totally build positive associations and help them all feel more confident around each other!
It's tough to lose a cat, and no matter what non-cat people say, those individual lives aren't interchangeable. *hugs* Take the time you need to...
I agree, I think the cat needs to be in your room. He's scared because he's alone. Could you use one of those large cat enclosures so that he's still out of the way in your room?
He might be getting overstimulated. This is pretty common in cats! Jackson Galaxy likes to say cats operate on "energy in, energy out." Petting him is giving him energy that he needs to get out so he nibbles on your hand. I've found that if I pet my cat while she's sitting on a scratcher bed...
Sounds like Holly wants to mess with the big cats but knows she won't win the fight! That falling over is her way of surrendering so she doesn't have to fight.
I used to live with a roommate who had a maine coon. Huge cat. Alice would get jealous when he was napping in a bed she wanted, so she...
It wasn't clear in your post whether you did the introduction by keeping Holly in her own room for a while to get acclimated. If you skipped that step, you might want to go back to it. If they're fighting, a bit of separation might do them good.
You also didn't specify what the territory is...
What a cute kitty! Definitely check with the vet to make sure everything is okay. They'll be able to tell if there's any medical reason behind the tip toe walk and shaking.
The playfulness sounds pretty normal. And the kibble thing just sounds like he's being picky with his food. Cats are...
I'm a bit late to this post, but hopefully I can still help!
I vote for taking your cat with you. Your cat loves you and would much rather be with you than people who merely tolerate him. Being without his person would be much more upsetting than a change in environment.
Having traveled about...
We could put her cat shelves on the wall beside the cabinets. We haven't unpacked them yet because we hadn't decided where they should go.
Do you think it's safe for her to be on top of the cabinets? Should we find a way to clean them first?
Proof that she is a crazy, high place loving cat:
She jumped from the counter to the top of the cabinet. She's quite the jumper and has always liked challenging herself to crazy jumps. But she looked really anxious when she looked back down from the cabinets, and she kept acting like she was about to jump then getting scared and changing her...
We've just moved into a new apartment and there's a large gap between the ceiling and cabinets.
Alice, of course, quickly discovered she could jump up there. It's not so much a problem with the cabinets beside the fridge because she can easily hop back down, but the cabinets on the other side...
