UPDATE:

So this thread is almost at the end. I will officially stop updating after tomorrow but for now it is prep time for Sun. Her spay appointment is tomorrow @ 9am. So no food or water after midnight. Poor girl has no idea what's coming. Anyway wish her luck! I'm sure everything will go as plan and be fine but it is still a surgery. So good vibes :vibes:fingers crossed:crossfingers: and prayers!

I'm not sure if this was mentioned or not. However I bet if you told your local vet your adoption plus kitten story, that they would be willing to work with you to help with the price of spaying/neutering kittens... or of telling you where your local low cost spay/neuter days/locations are. Personally I want the kittens to be 4-6 months old before spaying/neutering them. Please do whatever you think best and don't feel guilty about it.

Right! No need to stop updating. We always want to know the rest of the story - especially when kittens are involved. :)

Do you pick her up tomorrow also?

Make sure you get 3 days of pain meds for her. It helps. Please let us know how she is after her surgery.

How are her kittens doing?
Yes, she will be coming home today. Dropped her off at 9 this morning. Still waiting for a call to pick her up. She will be coming home with pain meds.

Her kitten, Leo is doing great by the way. He is wiened already and I going to have to stay away from his mama for at least 14 days along with his adoptive sister Chloe.

You don't have to stop updating, you know. I'm sure we'd all love to hear about Sun and her continued adventures!
Aw, how sweet! I didn't actually think people cared that much. Okay, well maybe I'll keep updating now and then. :touched:

No, the vet may say that, but it is not necessary. Mama will let him know if she wants him to leave her alone!

My cat was spayed and came home the same day and resumed nursing her four 8-week-old kittens immediately. They ate cat food too, of course. There were no issues. I gave her pain meds as well. :)

UPDATE:

We have picked her up already and are on the way home. Sun was not happy AT ALL with the veterinarian. She screamed bloody mary as he put her in her cat kennel. She's still loopy and rightfully grouchy.

After her surgery (while she was still out) she had her rabies updated, was treated for fleas, ears cleaned, and nails trimmed. So she had the works. Might as well get all of it done at the same time rather than taking her again later and traumatizing her. I'm sure she'll be happier when we get home.

Anesthesia can have different effects on animals and people. Loopy and grouchy are to be expected! My hubby recently had surgery, and he was loopy afterwards... and couldn't remember much of the 24 hours following surgery, lol. Maybe Sun's memory will be foggy too, and things will quickly return to normal in a day or so! Just don't have her sign any important papers during her recovery from anesthesia, like the doc advised my hubby and me, ha.

Yes, she'll feel better tomorrow. It was a good idea to get everything done while she was there. :)
Yes, I don't like stressing my kitties too much. The older ones absolutely flee when they see me pull out the cat kennel!
