mmmm......lasagna sounds really good!!!
Thanks everyone! Yes Jen, I did dip the knife in a mug of hot water to try & smooth the frosting.

that's a beautiful cake!and a homemade caramel sea salt frosting!!!may i ask -- how did you get your frosting so smooth on your cake? did you dip the knife you use to frost in water, to smooth the frosting?
i had extra of my carob-cream cheese frosting. i'll be using it to frost some oatmeal peanut butter cookies that i'll bake tomorrow. i made an extra batch of cookie dough a few weeks ago, and froze part of it in a flat disc and the rest in dough balls. i've got the cookie dough in the fridge thawing now, so it'll be quick and easy to pop a pan of cookies in to bake tomorrow.
thank you for sharing that trick!!! i'll remember that for the next time i make a cake!

"Positively beautiful (and yummy) looking cake, you are talented!"

"Ooooooo!"

I should've taken a picture of it when we sliced into it last night. All the layers were pretty.
Oh, & my mom's lasagna was good as usual, too. My mom made a smaller pan just for me w/ turkey instead of beef, because I haven't eaten beef or pork in over 20 yrs. so I got to take the rest home with me!
store bought peach cobbler sounds great!!!
Oh, your cake looks beautiful.
I'm by myself today and I'm just having some left over store brought peach cobbler. I'm just not able to do any baking.
that's totally understandable!Nope no desserts. Just have in a very small Christmas this year. My husband worked yesterday 3pm to today 8am and has same shift today. So he is only home a few hours so not making a huge meal
@Angels mommy Wow, that's beautiful!
No specific dessert though at some point I'll probably get into the Christmas cookies and dark chocolate we have here.
Christmas cookies and dark chocolate......mmmmm!!!
Oh, oh, oh!I forgot I had some delicious homemade lemon drop cookies that someone gave us last night.
When I found those, I had dessert after breakfast!
Christmas cookies and candy -- very nice!
We don't have a specific dessert for Christmas. There are the requisite Christmas cookies and candy around if someone is so inclined. By this time many of us are kind of burned out on the sweets and heavy foods in general. I am starting to crave a simple salad with a very small amount of a light dressing. I will probably go to the store tomorrow for romaine lettuce and an assortment of salad type raw veggies.
coffee ice cream with chocolate chips sounds wonderful!!!
@Angels mommy- That's a gorgeous cake, and it sounds delicious! I won't have any special dessert today - maybe some coffee ice cream with chocolate chips.
Christmas Oreos!!!
Not being much of a baker these days, I'll be enjoying some Christmas Oreos for desert. Everyone else's treats sound amazing.
Well, actually that was kind of a joke because everyone else had made these wonderful deserts and I was just having mass-produced cookies. However, you're absolutely right that the ones I had for desert had red filling so maybe I wasn't so far off the mark.
Christmas Oreos!!!i had to look them up online, to see what was done to make them Christmas-y. red filling......very pretty!!!
From what I can see, that cake sure looks good! I'd take a hunk of it any time! Yum!i'm totally sure that your sticky buns and Christmas cookies are awesome!!!
ahhh, lovely! a homemade peanut butter swirl cheesecake, and the white coconut layer cake.if i remember correctly, the white coconut layer cake has lemon curd between the layers...?
oh my!!! what a lovely list of yummy desserts!
- Finnish Pulla bread (Made entirely from scratch)
- Candy canes
- High End chocolates and chewy candies
- Caramel chocolate cake (Store bought)
- Panettone
a pumpkin cream icebox pie......mmmmm!!!
Oh yes. Although I cheated and just bought a pumpkin cream icebox pie.
that's too bad that the Marie Calendar's Turtle Pie didn't turn out good.
We had a horrible dessert for Christmas. Marie Calendar's Turtle Pie.I have the biggest sweet tooth, ever but it was nasty. I think we let it thaw too long. It was just a big soupy mess.
However, my mom made chocolate cheesecake bites for the first time and they were amazing.
maybe some fruit? or a little ice cream?
No desserts. I'm not big on sweets.
Nah. I prefer vegetables to fruit for the most part. I do like ice cream but usually buy it more for DD than myself. I have to really be in the mood for it and it has to be really good quality. Same with chocolate. I only like high quality imported dark chocolate. I'm far more into the savory than the sweet. Bread is my weakness- in all it's magical forms. I'll take a soft pretzel with a bit of cheese over cake or cookies any day.
maybe some fruit? or a little ice cream?
my opinion is that there's absolutely nothing wrong with store bought desserts.
Well, actually that was kind of a joke because everyone else had made these wonderful deserts and I was just having mass-produced cookies. However, you're absolutely right that the ones I had for desert had red filling so maybe I wasn't so far off the mark.
