Thanks for that! About my cats, oh my... I have five cats, all hard luck cases that came to me from one source or another. Everybody who knows me knows I won't say no to another cat. I love them all so much. Little white long hair Phoebe with blue crossed eyes and lots of attitude. Wee Jock and Annapurna, tabbies found on a Wyoming oil well rig. Taz, a chunky tuxie who almost died from swallowing a string as a tiny kitten. And fluffy, autistic calico Lady who really doesn't get social interaction, but loves a good pet on the kitchen rug now and then. I also have 3 sets of fosters, waiting to be rehomed except for the four who have FELV, they will be with me in their own part of the house for as long as they live, hopefully a good long time.
You are going to fit right in around here.   We all love the hard luck cases.  Bless you for taking them on!   When you get a chance,  you can also introduce them and yourself at The New Cats on the Block Forum:  http://www.thecatsite.com/f/20/new-cats-on-the-block    We love photos around here so be sure to post some of all your crew.   How many fosters  do you have?  It sounds like you've got quite a few.  And taking on FELV positive ones, too.  What an angel you are!

Thanks Margd! I have five fosters in one set, beautiful, wonderful kitties who are in limbo while their human is in hospital, very likely he will never return home, but I'm taking care of them until it is determined or he decides to let them be adopted. Another two belong to my daughter and will live in my basement until she and her husband can get a place where they can have them. The FELV cats come from a shelter Where I volunteer. They lived in isolation cages until I was able to give them a part of my basement (with a small catio). They have only been here a week and we are just getting to know each other.

Whoa!   You've really got your hands full!  It's very kind of you to take in the five cats whose human is in the hospital.  I know I worry what would happen to my Chula and Paul if I ever had an extended illness.

Here are Fox and Oscar, a bonded pair who are so sweet together. It's hard to tell but Fox is completely on top of Oscar. I so hope they can find a home together when it's time for them to be adopted out.

I might end up being a foster mom for a cat for a while.  My neighbor across the hall died.  I heard sirens and didn't really think much of it til they stopped right outside.  I guess a couple of his friends had tried calling and he didn't answer so they came to check on him - they had a key.  I'm pretty sure he had cancer.  Anyway, he had a cat.  So I told the one friend if they needed someone to take care of it, to let me know.  I think they're feeling a bit overwhelmed - who wouldn't be?  John might be a little irritated, but he'll get over it.  I mean, the cat probably did more for him than the doctors - especially his mental state.  And I know he would want it to be taken care of and not just end up at a shelter.  I didn't know him well - just a random hi and chitchat when I saw him in the hall - but he seemed like a nice guy.  It's really sad.  Just seems like the least I can do.

You clearly have a really big heart.  I hope you can find them a home together.  My Murphy and Connor would be devastated if they were ever separated.

Esme, one of the FELV babies, desperately thin when she was brought in to the shelter. Working hard on fattening her up. Shortly after I took this she developed a stomach problem. Right now all she wants is a small amount of chicken baby food. So sweet, I hope we can pull her through.

I will post more and introduce everyone on the new kids on the black forum, maybe tomorrow. I need to go through my pictures and pick out some good ones.

I hope it works out. It's very fulfilling to be able to help in this way, plus I get to love more cats!

I am in the terrible conundrum that many cat owners face. Having to pee, but also having two cats on my lap.

On the buying the house saga- got preapproved, now trying to find a house in the price range. Such a complicated process on the whole. Looked at one house yesterday that was in my price range, but absolutely terrible. Roof was completely ruined and leaking everywhere.

That's great
Is the real estate market hot where you are? Here houses and condos get snapped up right away, sometimes as soon as they are listed and haven't had an open house yet. Bidding wars are common. You do have to be wary about houses that are in your price range. There could be a whole slew of issuse with them that would be extrememly expensive to fix or replace or bring up to current building codes. I've heard of people bringing home inspectors along to look for issues in potential houses.

No plans today other than to the grocery store to buy ingredients for dinner. I'm thinking a one pot chicken and rice dish. I guess Mom had some kind of minor surgery yesterday so she's pretty much going to stay in bed all weekend. No idea what kind of surgery she had. No one in my family will their discuss their health
It's just "I'm having surgery tomorrow so don't come home for dinner"
No idea what my two adult brothers who still live at home are going to do. Neither cook or help around the house. Dad is too lazy to do anything but sit on the sofa all day being a big cranky grouch.

The real estate market is so so. Depends where you are looking around here. Winter is a slow season for house purchases, so less people are looking- especially with Christmas coming.

Here a house is inspected before sales are finalized. If you write up paperwork the right way, you're able to back out of the deal after inspection if something is very wrong or you can renegotiate the deal at that point as well.

This is known as "incapussitated."

SO, the other day I was sitting on my front porch on my fancy-schmancy walker with the seat when the dratted thing decided to buck me off into the yard.  Thank goodness the maintenance man hear Suzanne screaming like a banshee, and helped me up.  I thought I was fine, but now I'm losing the feeling in my right hand, the side I fell on.  SIGH.  Another doctor trip.

Great picture.

@Mamanyt1953  I hope everything is ok!  Losing the feeling doesn't sound good at all!

The cats were all weird yesterday.  I think they could smell death.  Connor was super needy - and he's normally the most independent of the 3.  He was really anxious and meowing until I got out the plush blanket for him and then he started kneading on it like his life depended on it.  Murphy was just extra tense and kinda jumpy.  And Mickey was just extra quiet.  They all seem to be back to normal today.  Poor babies.

I use "rescue remedy" for my cats when they are upset, like when i put five new cats in one of the bedrooms. They have a non alcoholic pet version, and just one drop on their wet food changes them from skittish to mellow! I use the adult version for myself, not sure how mellow I am, but it helps with anxiety.
