A very pregnant and very sleepy kitty!

I noticed today though that her belly is kinda lumpy for lack of a better description. And that her hips are a bit smaller/narrower than they used to be. Is this normal?

I think Sophie is a reincarnation of me when I'm pregnant.

She is the moodiest most tempermental, hormonal cat I have ever met.

She is laying on my bed behind my laptop grooming herself right now. I wanted to see what she was up to so I lowered my laptop to see her. I got the look from hell accompanied by a tail flick. I of course quickly apologized and returned my laptop to its upright position blocking her and she is happily grooming again.

Additionally, she's been acting weird today. She's been wandering around the house from room to room, almost aimlessly. She has been giving me these blank stares as if it's taking her a minute to recognize me. I think I confused her when I got home earlier because she was napping When I got in and when she woke up I was there. She's just being super absent minded (much like me in my third trimester).

Could she be looking for an area to nest? Is it possible that she's due even sooner than I expected?

Um...so Sophie is acting weird!

She is 100% nesting but she's going weird things when shes looking for a spot. She crouchs down and puffs out all her hair and puts her tail to the side like she's in heat.

How long before babies arrive can they start nesting?

Off to set up a nest for her...

She has gotten out a bunch. She's a sneaky little girl!

But the one time was when I believed that she was in heat.

But as babies are moving already and she's been showing for almost two weeks, she obviously got pregnant on one of her earlier escapades.

And now she is playing mind games on me!

This is her nest. She went in to check it out when I finished it and walked away after sniffing for a min.

Were certainly getting close... Lots of restlessness tonight. Lots of grooming. Going in and out of her nesting box. Rapid breathing.
I guess we shall wait to see how the night progresses...

Yes!

It's 2:30 am here and I've been laying in my bed trying to get some sleep before the action starts. Sophie was laying on my legs and I kept feeling twitches in her stomach and with each one she moves a bit and settles again. After an hr of this I got up to see and I saw a clear ripple in her belly! She also seems to be in pain. :( She lays there with her eyes held shut for a minute every time this happens.

It's gonna be a long night!

Yep, it sounds like it's happening. Glad you can be with her. My cat labored all night in bed with me too, then delivered in the morning. I always feel so badly for them enduring the pain. Good luck!

We are 100% in stage 1 labor!

Sophie just asked me to rub her belly...until now I got nice little nip every time I tried to see her nipples. Also, her nipples have a bit of white on the tips.

She has also decided that I should sit Indian style and that she will lay where my legs cross. So if I had any hope for sleeping tonight...those are gone.

Awww. The white on her nipples is milk. Yes, you're in for a long night. Hang in there!

Things are slow going so far. Sophie got a few hrs of sleep while forcing me to sit up and watch her. Every time I tried to move she got all upset and couldn't settle until I was sitting straight up again.

Now at 5:30 am she's awake again. Did a round of the room checking out her nesting boxes. And now she's looking out the window at the birds.

Maybe I'll be able to get a few hrs of sleep today still.

Is it normal that when she has contractions her tail flicks like ratlesnake?

Ah, that makes sense.
I keep apologizing to her and telling her I wish I could give her an epidural :(

I need advice!

Sophie is extremely restless right now. She wants out of my room. However, I know that in a few hrs people will be arriving at my home with their baby and dog. Sophie knows the dog but hasn't seen her since shes been pregnant. (We have arrangements if either one stress the other out)
My dillema is, do I let her out of my room like she wants or keep her in where she will have to be once they arrive.
Her food, water, and litter are in here as well as her nesting boxes.

Keep her in your room!! She is panicking because she's in pain and doesn't know what's happening to her body. Once she is really in labor she'll be happy to have a safe place.

Yes, she needs to stay in your room and not deal with visitors now.
