I made a pork roast last night, let it simmer overnight in the crock pot, it was really nice by this morning. I sliced it up, divided it and the resulting brown gravy into several batches for freezing but by tonight I did not feel like eating it so I made a big salad with red leaf lettuce, radishes, cukes and tomatoes from the farmers' market (the avocados were not soft enough yet), topped with some mozzarella and crumbled ham with Italian dressing. I'll start on the fixings (mashed potaoes and some veggies, maybe prepared sweet and sour red cabbage from the freezer) to go with the pork roast early tomorrow so that I will feel like eating it. I brought some of it to my neighbor across the way, she eats bologna sandwiches almost every night, she's in early stages of Alzheimer's so is in a rut. I can invite her over only so much, it gets too expensive and she has not enough sense to invite me over or out unless I flat-out tell her to do so.

Anything but turkey!!

There are a couple cans of tuna in the pantry. I may use those to make Tuna Loaf (which is kind of like meat loaf, but made with tuna). It's actually quite good.

When I got home from work yesterday. we had to go down to the garage to pick up the Tucson, then go the mall to pick up the Christmas tree. Then we hit a few stores for some small gifts, basically stocking stuffer kind of things that were on sale. Til we actually got home, it was well after 6:00 and then we had to work on cleaning out the litter boxes for the trash. I was happy to know that the roast and the vegetables were in the crock pot; til we were ready to eat, the last thing I wanted to do was make dinner. It was nice bringing the crock pot up from the basement and just putting dinner on our plates. We had the pot roast and vegetables with the last of the freezer cabbage.

I think tonight will be hash, made from the remains of the beef from last night. Rick is bowling early, so we'll need to have an early dinner.

Winchester Winchester how come you put it down in the basement? I'm guessing it has something to do with cats...

Tonight's dinner is frozen stuffed pasta and sauce from a bottle. We've spent the last two days cleaning our apartment from top to bottom and can't even get to the freezer to take anything out.

Yup. I don't trust my little buggers in the slightest!

We are going out for dinner tonight. I'm not sure where yet, but Rick told me not to get anything out of the freezer.

Hmmm, "calf fries" haven't heard of that before! Don't know if I'd be game enough to try them, although I have eaten deer tongue before and I have to say it was delicious. Pays to keep an open mind.
After an exceptional dinner last night of four pieces of raw cabbage dipped in garlic dressing, I thought I'd put a little effort in tonight. We had tostones and baked stuffed chayote, both of which I'd never had before, and grilled pork chops. Yummy! Definitely worth the effort and those tostones have me inventing variations in my mind already! Absolutely yummy. :yummy:

It makes my son gassy and it's passe
through breast milk (sorry if that's tmi). I had one cabbage roll a few weeks ago and he was not happy after. I can't have turkey either, I had that problem with Aimee too. :sigh:  Christmas is coming and I will have to limit myself to a very small amount of turkey.
Tonight, I am making pork chops. We were going to have them last night but they were frozen solid still so we just grabbed a take and bake pizza from the grocery store.
can you get black beer in America? Or malt beer? It's non alcoholic and is supposed to be good for a breast feeding mama.

When we were at King Arthur in October, I picked up a Farmhouse Chowder mix. I made it tonight, using broth from the Thanksgiving turkey and then adding a couple cups of chopped turkey to the soup. (That is the last of the turkey, other than what I threw into the freezer). It waspretty good. We each had a couple slices of homemade bread to go with our soup (I didn't make the bread; Rick's mom did).
at age 90 she's still baking her I own bread? Well good for her. I'm nowhere like that at 70. Wish I was but not my nature. Massive lazy. My hat's off to your Mil.

We're having rotisserie chicken, jacket potatoes and coleslaw. My favourite meal for the time being. Yum.

They say here to just drink a dark beer. He's mostly formula fed now unfortunately, we are having issues with him getting full and only formula seems to help. He's a very gassy baby who cries a lot.

My grandma is 95 and still makes her own bread. She's very independent and still likes to do everything for herself. I think that woman has more energy than I do most days.

Tostones are a Latino dish, basically twice-fried plantains. Very simple and yummy side dish or dessert.

Tonight we're having baked chicken breast and tomato stuffed pasta.
