Let me give you a little background. My parents have been in love with Airedale terriers for years now and owned several as pets. A few years ago they decided to try their hand at breeding, to see if it was something they wanted to get serious about. Some may consider them to be byb but they really weren't in it for money and weren't cranking out litter after litter to sell. It was more of a hobby that they were trying to see if they were cut out to do it full time. (Spare me any lectures please. I know better, but they don't and they are too old to spank)
After 2 beautiful litters of puppies (in 3 years), most of which were placed in homes of friends and family, not sold, they had to stop because of my stepdad's health problems. Their female Angel, they decided to go ahead and spay, since if they were ever able to go back to it, it would likely be several years. While waiting for her appt, she went into heat and the male somehow managed to climb over a 5 1/2 foot fence to get to her! (The female and one of her pups they kept, live outdoors in a 3 acre fenced area, with lots of trees, a pond, and heated doghouse).
They decided to go ahead and let her have the puppies. Her previous litters were large (8 and 11) but they thought this one would be smaller, because she wasn't as large. She went into labor a week early and had 15 puppies. 2 were stillborn, and 7 more died the first night. They have 6 puppies remaining which are being hand fed because Angel is having problems with bleeding and will be spayed immediately. Of the remaining 6, 4 are fat and healthy, and 2 are runts, but doing well.
Angel and her 6 puppies could use some of those TCS vibes. If they survive, 2 will be kept as pets, and the rest placed with family.
