@MelsBabies --i'm so sorry that your boy is having this kind of medical issue. it might be something to consider to get a second opinion from a different vet --- just like many people do when faced with a serious medical issue. sometimes a different vet will notice or catch something that the original vet missed. do you know any other people who have any cats, that you feel they take very good care of them? maybe someone like that would have a vet they go to who they consider "very good" or "excellent".
my two cats (one crossed the rainbow bridge about a year and a half ago) have/had various serious medical issues -- IBD, CKD, diabetes, idiopathic hypercalcemia. like many/most cat parents, i research and read a lot online about these medical conditions. i've been where you're at, delirious from being up all night on line reading into the possibility of my cats condition. in my experience, it's best to make sure we get the rest we need and also to limit (to some extent) how long we spend researching online. i've found that i need to take good care of myself so i can continue to take good care of my cat. this is especially important for long-term illnesses and diseases, because with time it's easy to develop "caregiver/compassion fatigue".

that this vet is able to treat the condition.
