I own Dobermans and grew up with them and come in contact with many Dobermans in various places, clubs, and shows, they are good dogs. I don't appreciate the comments that they are "killer" dogs.Originally Posted by tweetykiss
Sorry, I hope I did not insult you. Have you had dobies? No, I am not mad at anyone and never was. I am not even mad at the writer but I was very hurt by her.
When my husband was growing up they always had two dobies and pure bred. The parents paid a huge amount of money for them and breeded them and sold them. Now they just have a girl dobie. I have not heard her bark at any time we have been there but when I am in the same room with her, I have to ask someone to be there and watch me. My husband wanted a miniature pincher but I said no.
Did you know they fought in the war and helped our country with their very lives? Did you know they do Search and Rescue and were at bomb sites, recovering victims? Did you know they also find lost people with Search and Rescue? Did you know Dobermans are guide dogs for the blind? They are also service animals, helping people live better and more independent lives. And did you know Dobermans are therapy dogs, visiting hospitals and nursing homes? I know a Doberman that helps children with learning disabilities learn to read in a classroom, he has been doing it for years and helped many children. They make great companions, family dogs, and show dogs.
So please don't label them as "killer" dogs. They have helped our society and continue to help our society in many meaningful ways.
