:princess: Perla's eye is much better today only after being on the drops for 24 hours. I take this as a great sign. She has been taking her drops like a little angel . I think she knows at this point that I am helping her. She was out and about today and not napping as much. I am sure she is feeling better. I am sure her eye was causing her some pain being irritated and inflamed like that. Much better today. I have not received the CS yet. Probably tomorrow it will get delivered. I am happy that her eye is already much better, though. Must be the Dex  :D

Oh Lordy.  I just cannot imagine trying to give any of mine eyedrops!
for BOTH of you
, although something tells me you have done this before with her, and know some "tricks"!

Don't know if this will help you any but I've had to give one of my babies eyedrops.  It was a chore in the beginning but I finally prevailed
I wound up doing with her what I had to do when I trimmed her nails for the first time.  I put a towel in the dryer until just warm.  Wrapped her up in the towel and held her in one arm and administered the drops with the other hand.  Not so bad.  Then she got treats and was happy as a clam
After several days of this routine she was quite willing to put up with the eye drops because she knew she was getting feline Greenies afterwards

As Laurie says, gotta love Dr. Mark :clap::clap:
Awesome! yes, CS will help a bunch, I just know it :cross:
Lauren, Try to keep the diluted mixture into a dark glass - like a brown glass, if you can.... And remember: Distilled water is a must.
To use it like he wants, just put it into a cotton ball, and wipe her eyes gently - you can do it 4-6 times a day..... The GREAT thing about CS is that it is absolutely gentle for the skin and eyes

Also a tip: it is the greatest thing for cat bites, scratches, etc. Both on them and on you :lol3:
I had several accidental bites that have broken the skin - stupid bites - like feeding treats.... opsy, forgot my finger in their mouth! :doh3: I just soak a cotton ball with CS, tape it with surgical tape over the wound after washing it well, and sleep with it like that. Never got even close to get an infection
For scratches, I just wipe it with CS a few times, and that's that.
I treat all the kids wounds with it, and works like a charm. Lucky's ringworm and Bugsy's yeast ear infection.... I can't tell you how many times CS has saved me here
Keep it close, near and dear - you just got yourself a great first aide for your home kit!!:clap:
:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for your little girl :heart3:

I know, I can't believe the wonderful benefits I have found on the internet about CS. Just incredible. I also read through May's thread and the miracle it make on her terribly infected leg injury. OMG just a miracle. :heart3:

Carolina... Do I have to dilute it to rub it over her eyes? Was the dilution directions only IF I were to use it IN her eye? I do have a dark blue bottle for my dilution. I am hoping to receive the CS delivery today :cross:

AND GOOD NEWS!!!!! Perla's eye is almost totally normal :thud: I cannot believe how quickly the Poly Neo Dex drops did the trick. Last time it took many, many, many days for healing. BUt again, this is my GREAT vet who saw her. I LOVE DR. MARK!!!!!!!!!!! He is SO conservative too, he doesn't have this fancy, smancy office and decor. Just an old house in town. Very old fashioned and will not spend your money unless he REALLY thinks it is necessary. He is REALLY smart too. Just a wonderful find. I have been going to him for almost 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!! Just the best.....

Yep, you do have to dilute to wipe her eyes with it, because some of it might go into her eyes..... So just follow the instructions and just use the diluted solution whenever in or around the eyes....
Awesome news that she is recovering so fast! :vibes:

Today is the last day of the drops and her eye is completely normal other than the usual weepiness, but very mild. Her eye recovered really quickly and I am a happy momma about that :clap:. I wonder if her eye will ever stop weeping though. I am going to make up the Colloidal Silver dilution today and see if maybe that will help with the tearing :cross:

Carolina, do you know how long the diluted solution is good for? Day's, week's.... does it expire? Also, I noticed on the bottle itself that there is no expiration date. I guess it never expires. :dk:

Colloidal Silver is just Silver particles in distilled water - there is nothing organic in there to get spoiled. Provided that you keep it in a dark glass bottles, you do not need to worry about an expiration date.....
2 things are important to keep Silver intact: 1- Distilled water / 2 - Always keep away from the light.... The darker the bottle the better.......
:hugs:

Thank you. I have a very dark blue small glass bottle to make up the diluted solution. I appreciate the info. :happy3:

I thought it was time to let you all know how my :princess: Perla is doing. We are still unfortunately battling with a bad left herpetic eye. It has been almost a year since the weeping started. I remember it well - it was after my mom's car accident last July when I returned home and she started with the weepy eye. She was stressed during my absence and I don't want to get into the why's... but it was not good. At the time, I never thought anything of it - thought it would be SO easy to clear. BOY was I wrong. :frown2: Since my last post, Perla has been seeing an eye specialist and together we have been working to heal her eye. Nothing is working, absolutely nothing. :shame: We have tried extremely expensive anti-viral drops called Cidofovil, tried Erythromycin eye ointment, have tried them together and separately with no avail. She has been bumped up on Lysine, the red sores around the eyes have been treated with hydro cortizone ointment and that doesn't work because she just rubs her eye like crazy after the application. I have tried the Colloidal Silver eye washes at 50 PPM - up to four times a day - if I can catch her. NOW she is on a very powerful antibiotic called Azithromycin for four weeks. It is a liquid, triple fish flavor. I absolutely HATE giving liquids and prefer pills - but I guess the liquid is much easier to compound and dose. Dosage has to be EXACT with this drug. I have to check her for jaundice as it is hard on her liver. So far so good on that. :cross: The specialist mentioned to me that if all of this continues to fail that I should consider enucleating the eye. :sobbing: :shocker: Are you kidding? Isn't there anything else we can try??? I was in total shock when she mentioned this (and a bit mad ) as I never ever thought that it would eventually come down to that. Never. And I will not consider this right now. Her eyeball is not affected at all - it is the surrounding tissue, the tearing and the red tiny sores on the outer lids. If after this month on the Azithromycin, I will discuss the Neo-Poly-Dex drops with this vet. That seems to work for Perla OR what about an oral low-dose steroid??? I know that could open her up to a full blown Herpes flare up though so again, dosage has to be exact. I am very sad over all of this and since her eye has gotten worse this last two weeks - it is a constant worry and makes me want to cry. :sniffle: She is such a sweet little princess - so peaceful, quiet and sweet. I love her so very much :heart3: Perla and I would appreciate any thoughts, vibes or prayers - whichever you can spare. :hugs: :hugs:

I just replied to your input to us on Sienna our Tortoise Shell when I saw your post about your cat's eye.  Our cat had a number of problems including an eye problem the Vet attributed to a deep ear cleaning.  There were multiple pills and liquids that we had to give her.  My wife is the nurse in the family--I hated to see Sienna squirm and try to get away while she was being given her medicine.  Her eye problem is better and everything else except for her deafness is fine now.

I sympathize with your situation and hope the next treatment is the one that works.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Oh Lauren... :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: I'm so sorry you and Perla are still battling this! :( I'm so sorry your vet wants to start thinking about having her eye removed. :( Just FYI, Flowerbelle did end up having corneal scarring, but that's not why her eye was removed. Her good eye is scarred. The eye was removed because we couldn't stop the herpes from attacking the tissue around her eye. :(

Just uber mega heaps of vibes it doesn't come to that! I know how much the idea makes your heart ache. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: (Based on our experience, I'm going to have to say Perla probably wouldn't mind much. She's still young enough it should help up quickly. Definitely better younger than older. You saw catpaw's experience with Silly?)

Perla does have very minor scaring on that eye. I did not know that Flowerbelle's actual eye was not the issue. I thought the eye itself was also diseased :dk: So, it was the tissue surrounding the eye?! OMG - that is what is slowly happening to Perla. Little by little. The tearing/weepiness has never ceased but the eye flare ups seem to come and go. My fear is that this one is not "going". This is such an awful virus and I am sick about it - that we can't get it cleared. I honestly thought taking the next step to see the eye specialist would bring about "remission" or at least a way to continually control or manage the flare ups. It just is not as simple as I thought it would be. :sigh:

Yes - I have seen Silly's thread and actually just last night caught up on some reading. AND I know you are right - when/if the time comes down to that - (I can't even say the word :bawling: :sobbing: :bawling2:) because the eye is just too painful for my little angel or she is just too uncomfortable .... she will recover, manage and even feel better. :cross: I just hope it does not come to that.
