ohh they are beautiful! she seems bit edgy but nothink like earlier so not to sure whats going on but let hope they do come on same day be great! how did she get on? xx
she done so well hardly made a noise at all just a couple of squeeks when they came out, I did get a bit worried as the first had its legs hanging out but she got there in the end, she looks so content now, she gets a bit edgy if she can here the kids shouting down stairs or if she thinks im going to touch them but I have given her(bells) a stroke and she is fine, just hope she is all done lol :-)
Many owners must help the at the birth, most breeders and most rescuers do weigh them every day, beginning from immediately after the birth.
So this not touching is just a old tale. May be three wiith wild rabbits and roe deers kids, but not kittens.
Good luck!
Ps. mom may be a little protective, dont try and sneak in, do everything so she sees what you are doing, and she sees her kittens dont protest. And do it quickly.
hows she doing with them?? lilly has stopped nesting and everything but still wants to be close this feels like a never ending game really fort it was happening that time so no joint birthday! xx
I agree with Stefan- it is an old wives tale that handling kittens will result in Mom abandoning them. Granted, you don't want to go overboard as it may result in more frequent den moves but some handling is necessary.
For the first two weeks I only handle the kittens to get a daily weight and give a quick look over and then put them right back. As Stefan said only handle them in front of her and if she gets too freaked out stop and come back and try again a little later.
Hopefully by now the little one has figured it out and has latched on. Healthy kittens are quiet ones so if they are crying a lot then something isn't right.
oh kim81 it will happen soon cant wait for them to get here so I can see the pics :-) how is she today,
they have all latched on now and bells has been out a couple of times to get some foor so I have took a couple of pics, I held two of them this morning but one of the light ones freaked out and started meowing and bells wasn't very happy so put it straight back on her, am going to start weighing them from tomorrow when the kids are away so it will be nice and quiet in the house and I can sit with her properly, they are so lovely
they are so cute seeing them make me want hers here now! shes hanging in keeps trying to escape shes currently at my back door going mad! shes not been out for 3 weeks now and find places but was in her box from like 5 till 10 this morning shes hanging in man I mean she seriously couldn't get any bigger she was up most of the night scratching and jumping up on my dresser to get on my wardrobe n stuff I think ill be waiting another week I bet! im glad they doing well what do they contraction feel like when they at first stages?? xx
aww bless her I bet she is searching for somewhere she wants to have them, bells kept trying to go for the doors, you could see the contractions her whole body squeezed in tensing up then going back to normal when I was seeing them earlier in the day it was like someone was pulling her fur backwards and forwards she was breathing heavily but not panting so I assume it is different for each cat xx
yeh she defo did bells know what to do and all that and shes just been terrible today with trying to get out its literally her only goal but locked her back in my rom before school run come back all her chest and front legs are wet where shes grooming! ohh gosh just wanted to make sure ill defo know or have rough idea what to be expecting!
hey, you will defo know she will tell you in her own way, bells and the kits are fine she has been letting me hold them for a couple of mins at a time, but doesn't look anywhere else just makes sure they are happy with me, I tried weighing them this morning first born who I have named mini me for now is 125g, second who is ginger numb 1 with stripes is 135g ginger numb 2 is 153g im sure im going to keep getting these two confused they look exactly the same. have just changed her bedding and she is straight back to feeding them she is very attentive when it comes to them and she is doing fab. she doesn't seem to be eating unless im in the room with her though so have to keep sitting with her to make sure she eat
aww im so glad they doing great! I was a bit unsure about weighing them some people say its a myth but obviously I want to make sure they are gaining ect after coming on this site im defo more comfortable with everything and will be weighing them so is that a good weight ect? how much should they weigh when they are born?? xx
