It all started out so innocently. Rob and I had moved into a house and I said I wanted a cat. Nakita came into our lives a little less than 3 years ago and in that time has filled our lives with laughter, love and so much more! She only weighs in at 5 pounds and has the smallest frame I have seen on a cat.
Rob was not overly excited about the proposal of bringing a cat into our home. He really had no experience with cats, and just complained about the extra fur balls that would soon start to appear, the cost of food, you know...all the complaints from a non-cat lover. Of course, once Nakita entered this household, that would soon change. Nakita has a magical way of moving herself into your heart.
I started searching the net for cat info and came across The Cat Site in August 2002. If I remember correctly, this infamous picture changed Nakita from a Russian Blue, to Nakita the Gargoyle. Many of the older members here at TCS will remember this one!
She would sit on top of my computer and squish her little head between the top of the monitor and shelf unit that sat directly above it. So once I shared this pic, Nakita was from that point on known as TCS own gargoyle.
It didn't take long for Nakita to win Rob over. Actually, it probably took all of 30 seconds. We brought her home, opened up her carrier and she climbed right up Rob's leg. But, Nakita never uses her claws so as she tried to climb up, she fell with a *thud* back down to the floor. Rob picked her up and that was the moment he turned into a cat lover. She now has him eating out of her hand:
I knew Nakita would want to go outside, especially when we go on our weekend trips to the cottage. She took to leash training like a fish to water. She now demands to be taken for a daily walk and loves every minute of it.
There are so many reasons why I love her. The way she sits with one paw up:
How she does the Queen wave
from behind the glass of our front window:
Or is it her amazing eyes? As you can see, I don't call her my Emerald Girl for nothing:
But if you take a close up shot from the side, you see the mixing of blue and green within her eyes...amazing!
