Wow! What's with all the Napolean Dynamite hate? I just love how socially ackward Napolean was..I appreciate characters like that!
I can't think of a movie I really dislike right now, so I will recommend a good movie that I'm sure some of you have seen already, Little Miss Sunshine. So cute and funny.

My problem with Napoleon Dynamite is that it was a total rip off of Rushmore, and Rushmore was a FAR superior movie. If you liked Napoleon Dynamite then you'll LOVE Rushmore.

I don't usually watch movies (I'm a reader) but I have to agree on quite a few that I've seen listed.

The movie that I hated the very most of any movie I've seen was Dumb and Dumber. I, too, was taken to this movie on a first date. Never went out with the guy again either. I figured that if he liked that kind of humor, we didn't have anything in common!!!

A couple of other stinkers:
Signs
Mars Attacks
The Crying Game

I just borrowed the Napoleon Dynamite DVD. I'm planning to watch it this weekend, but expect to probably place it on the bad movies list too.

I actually enjoyed Titanic and Phantom of the Opera. I volunteer at the local theater in the costume department, so I enjoy seeing period clothing.

I even liked The Blair Witch Project....well, like isn't really the correct word. I was scared silly by it. Must be because my sister and I used to play in, and often get lost in, the woods up in northern Michigan at our cottage when we were growing up.

I also tend to dislike most, if not all, movie adaptations of books that I've read. For some reason, they are always a huge disappointment to me. I guess my imagination is better than the screenplay!

Im a movie lover. On top of that, I am also a "Bad Movie" lover. I really enjoy movies when theyre so bad theyre a disaster - which is why I LOVED Leprechaun in the Hood. Its hard for me to know if people are saying "worst" as in "least liked by them" or worst as in "bad movie". Because for example, while I can TOTALLY understand someone not enjoying Gangs of New York, I cant understand how someone could say it is a "bad" (meaning poor) movie. There is a movie I HATE HATE HATE, because it is so disturbing, called Irreversible. I will not likely ever watch it again. However, it is one of the BEST movies I have seen, and I do own it because of such (directing, acting, cinematography etc etc are FANTASTIC).
All that said, I have 2 movies to list

1) The Blair Witch Project. I saw absolutely nothing of merit to this movie save that it managed to gather a cult following. This is perhaps the ONLY movie I have EVER seen, that I honestly wish I could recover the time from. And Im voting for this one on both me disliking it, and me feeling it was a very poor film in all aspects.

2) King Long - by that I refer to the remake of King Kong that happened last year. Take out an hour and a half of the movie (literally- half) and MAYBE it could have been decent. But talk about dragging on and on and on.

Oh, also, while I didnt dislike Signs per se, I hate it perhaps second to Blair Witch, despite King Long, because of the ending. I HATE HATE HATE when a movie ends, and an impact is made, and then to spell it out for everyone who was watching who "missed it", theres an extra scene that is completely unnecessary which ends up GREATLY diminishing, if not destroying (as in signs) the emotional impact of what imo, should have been the end scene

Okay, my turn. The list of bad movies I've seen could go on and on, so I'm listing the ones that I really wanted to like but couldn't help but hate.

Hostel - I hated this movie on the factor of how disturbing it was alone.
Castaway - I can watch this movie up until the end, but the ending ruins the whole thing for me.
City of Angels - For the exact same reason as Castaway.

I actually really enjoyed Pumpkin, but then again I'm a little strange.

I'm not a movie lover at all. I have a few favorites that I run to death though. The only ones I've bothered to watch and been dissapointed with were 1) The Beautician and the Beast ($5 bin at walmart) and 2) Napolean Dynamite. I did not laugh once. I found no humor in it. I know a lot of people liked it. I find it along the lines of dumb and dumber. This was dumbest to me.

That's too funny! I'm finding some of my favorites listed on this thread, I loved Anchorman, and we watch The Wicker Man every May Day (mainly my husband likes that dance).

This thread is funny!!!

I hated Dumb and Dumber too, and it's sequel.

Oh, and Gigli was TERRIBLE...but we all knew that.

Some other flops for me were:
*The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
*Titanic
*Super Mario Brothers (okay...saw this when I was like in 7th grade...and we all walked out of the theater).
*The English Patient...talk about pointless, and emotionless!!!
*The Hillz (with Paris Hilton)
*House of Wax (with Paris Hilton...detect a common theme here?)
*Pocahontas (the biggest Disney mistake ever made, along with Snow White...what's up with Snow White's stupid singing?
)
*Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
*Bridges of Madison County
*Brave Heart (talk about historically inaccurate!!!)
*Bram Stoker's Dracula (Winona Rider MUST never do an English accent)

Okay. Those are just a few stinkers for me.

On the other hand, I loved Lost in Translation...I thought it was brilliant!!! And I also love Oh Brother Where Art Thou, The Blair Witch Project, House of 1000 Corpses, Memoirs of A Geisha, The Crying Game, and 40 Year-Old Virgin (hysterical!!! The scene where he leaves the bar with the drunk chick in the car...muahahahahaha!!!).

It just goes to show you, each to his/her own!

I thought of a couple more that I hated:

Apt Pupil - the most boring movie ever

Collateral Damage - I actually fell asleep in the movie theatre which I NEVER do.

I thought of some more i hate:

ALL of those "Chuckie" movies- omg! Those creep me out!!!!!!!!!!

U571 - that AWEFUL submarine movie- it was sooo bad i fell asleep during it!

and pretty much all scarrie movies- i hate scarrie movies- they freak me out!!!

Oh and there was one movie i rented a while back thinking it was a basketball movie that had previews i'd seen on tv. Well...apparently i rented the WRONG movie
I put it on expecting to see a good storyline and some basketball- what i saw was about two seconds of basketball and lots of porn. I took that one back to blockbuster.

Oh, yeah, I have to agree with you on that one! Talk about feeling claustrophopic and uncomfortable. My husband thought it was great, though.

I've never seen a Chuckie movie, I KNOW I wouldn't like them.

Yup, I thought of a couple more too...

Count me in on The Wicker Man, total waste of time.

Another one that I just really hated was The Good Girl with Jennifer Anniston...if you ask me, it was just BLAH and the acting wasn't all that great.

As far as drug movies go, some I loved and some I hated. I LOVED Blow and The Salton Sea.

HATED Requiem for a Dream and Trainspotting.

Made the mistake of watching Requiem for a Dream for the first time with my parents.
Would have been nice and made for a less uncomfortable moments had someone forewarned me about one party scene in particular. Strangely though my mom got a big kick out of the older woman who got addicted to diet pills. Go figure.

Trainspotting, well, I just couldn't stomach the toilet scene. And the baby scene freaked me out too.

It's so bad....
it is now a classic.
I agree, this movie is bad, but it's so bad it's good! I love the Bella Lugosi replacement that runs around with a cape over his face for half the movie. It cracks me up every time.

Also, I've noticed that Showgirls hasn't had much of a mention in this thread. I'd like to say that I recently attended a midnight showing similar to The Rocky Horror Picture Show of Showgirls and it was a blast. If one is going on in your area you should go!

This may kindof date me, but I thought War of the Roses was pretty bad. It's very rare that I even go to movies anymore.
