I'm so sorry that Christmas is a time of sadness for you and am sending lots of hugs to all of you.
Give your kitties extra big hugs today, too.

Thank you so much. Carolina will be here in a few minutes and I know from past experience that if you want to find restaurants open on Christmas you simply pick restaurants from non-Christian parts of the world. We have our choice of Turkish, Chinese, Thai, Vietanamese, Indian and others. And of course Iranian. I will let her pick but my SILs and BILs have been bringing me so much Iranian food that I will not even mention that as an alternative!Originally Posted by calico2222
Lee, I am so happy you and Carolina are getting together! Christmas alone is so depressing. Christmas of 2002 I had just gotten back to Guam after my dad's funeral, boyfriend had just dumped me and moved out, my cat just died and we just had a typhoon and had no power and very little water. I spent Christmas sweating my butt off, reading a book and eating beans out of a can. But that year I wasn't in the mood to celebrate anyway so it was just another day off work for me.
I hope you guys have a ball, and hopefully some other TCS people can join you. Merry Christmas both of you!!
Carol, by the way, I was told YOU MUST GO on the next meeting!Originally Posted by CarolPetunia
Lee and Carolina! What's the report? Do you have pictures? Did Mike and Dottie make it? Inquiring minds want to know!
So glad you guys had a good time!!! I get the impression that Lee is quite well traveled and worldly, so conversation shouldn't have been an issue!Originally Posted by carolinalima
Well, Thanks to meeting Lee, my Christmas was not a sad Christmas.... AT ALL!
I got there and was welcomed with a hug, and the funniest kitty I have ever met - that was Persi. That kitty might as well be a dog!
He follows you everywhere, plays with you, looks at you funny... and is just too cute for words! He is not afraid of people - that is one social kitty!
After playing with Persi, and chatting with Lee for a bit, it was time for us to find Alley - that was a mission! Lee found her hiding on the back of the closet... poor thing! I got to see her for a full three seconds before she disappeared again!
Lee treated me to a delish Indian lunch yummy! And I couldn't believe it, Mike (mrblanche) had stopped by to drop off some beautiful brownies! How thoughtful!
After Lunch we just spent time talking and talking and talking - God, I hope Lee didn't get tired of all the talk! We Brazilians can talk!
It was a great day, and I hope we can do a Dallas TCS meet up really soon! He said so many great things about the last meeting!I can't wait to meet some local TCS members live!!
Lee, meeting you was a great Christmas gift! Thanks for the opportunity!!
You are unbelievably sweet Mike, but I was worried about you guys driving on that weather! You should have stayed with us!Originally Posted by mrblanche
We made it by for a few minutes, on our way to OKC. We dropped off a few brownies (made from the recipe I posted earlier, plus some mint) for their dessert.
We did manage to spend about six hours talking. When I saw the back window of your car I knew that would be no problem. And also being from Brazil cemented that. And as I promised, Persi has NEVER failed to greet people at the front door and spend time with them.Originally Posted by carolinalima

I am so glad that you had a good day! And Carolina. I was worried, as well as about the others who posted about sadness at this time of year.Originally Posted by Persi & Alley

I just took a look and it looks like things stay on YouTube forever, so you can go to YouTube.com and search on KatKlik and there is last years party in about 7 one minute parts (KatKlik1-7). (Cat clique.) As it turns out, my family in this area are all getting together today. Go figure. I knew when I posed the thread there would be a lot of us and most of us probably just did not wish to talk about it.
Carolina, I am sending you a pm about something you brought up that had me thinking all day yesterday. I am one of the world's leading proponents on conspiracy theories and as such is absoluely amazing that I had never considered this before. BTW, anybody else that likes conspiracy theories needs to read "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown. But since I have never voluntarily went into the IMO part of TCS, I will leave it there.
Yes, six hours of stimulating conversation was much better than sitting alone for six hours on Christmas Day, wasn't it? I am so glad I posted my true feelings...
You bet! And this time, instead of being a nervous overdressed wreck meeting everybody for the first time, I'll be able to relax and enjoy it a lot more.Originally Posted by carolinalima

Oh Lawguy, I am sorry you and your family went through this... Thank Goodness she is doing better, (and you too), and here are many many many vibes going you way for a wonderful and healthy 2010Originally Posted by LawGuy
I had a bad Christmas too. My mother was hospitalized after going to the ER early in the morning Christmas Eve after hitting a 10 on the pain scale, being unable to walk, and passing out from the pain. I didn't even find out until I woke up and my uncle called me asking how she was and I had no idea what he was talking about.
I spent most of Christmas Eve and Christmas in the hospital hanging out. My father, brother, and I had dinner at Denny's on Christmas because the hospital cafeteria was closed.
She got discharged today and I just brought her home. Nobody really still knows exactly what is wrong with her, and she's on some very strong pain meds. There wasn't all that much they could do in the hospital though other than give her pain meds because the medications they think will help her will take time to work. So all through New Years she's pretty much going to be stuck in bed.
Between me having to withdraw from law school due to illness and her being hospitalized, the last few months have not been very good.
I hope things get better.
