That's OK. I just wondered how good this place was....I mean, it has happened before that rescue/adoption agencies turned out to not be who they are....

I just hope they get back to you soon!!!!

URI's can hit kittens HARD. Esp if it's a herpes flare up. We had a bbbaaaaaaddd outbreak at the shelter and we had kittens that took over a month to clear up. They were on antibiotics AND anti-virals. Nasty stuff.

It's your right as a new mom to know what's going on. Be persistent but polite.

We left the apartment for a little while last night to go watch the Superbowl with some friends and of course that's when she called.

She left a message that rambled for about 2 or 3 minutes and thanked us for our patience and said if we had moved on to a new kitten she completely understood, but that the litter had been hit really hard with the kitty cold. The little girl that we wanted in particular had one eye that got really bad, but that yesterday was the first day it had looked "normal" and after one more trip to the eye specialist she would be ready to come "home".

She said that she might always have a weak eye on that side. I'm fine with that. Anya has one eye that tears and leaks almost all the time that our vet says that there is "nothing wrong with" and I've just started giving her Viralys (lysine supplement) for it orally. Giving it to two kitties is no different. I'm so excited to have this little girl home soon.

I'm about to call her and I'll update you guys again afterward.

I called twice to her office so far, which on the phone message she said she would be there all day today. I left a message the second time asking her to call me at work, and that I would be here until 5. No return calls yet.

Is it bad that at this point I REALLY want to adopt this little girl because I think her current meowmy is a little absent-minded???

Sorry for being such a doubting Thomas earlier....it's just that I've heard rescue horror stories before.....

I'm glad that the lil girl gets to come home!!!! Have you & Brian "officially" settled on a name yet? I know it went back & forth a lot....Pickle Pants was his choice?

No problem. I'm still a little bit of a "doubting Thomas". I'll believe she's mine when she's in our apartment and the foster mom has left.

As far as names, I think we settled on Pumpkin Pants, even though I've never had a cat named anything like that before. I've always been big on giving my cats human names. When she gets here we may change our name entirely.

In fact, I've asked the foster mom in emails which little girl is the one that we like because two of them have names that I might actually want to keep. The three girls are Goose, Viper, and Hollywood. The one that we picked is sweet and cuddley, can you imagine if her name was Viper?
I kind of like Hollywood too.

Well, Pumpkin Pants is a lot better than it could be. I had a kitty named "Poopy Pants" for awhile as he had chronic diarrhea.
Once the runs cleared up, he got a real name, though!

Oh I hope she comes home soon! With that new camera of yours, I can't wait to see all those toes!

Brian talked to the foster mom earlier. I posted in Health and Nutrition if you guys want to shoot over there and give me some advice/opinions. The new kitten has been diagnosed with herpes and I don't really know anything about that.

The thread in Health and Nutrition

It's all outlined there.

I think with all the drama that has gone on lately between me and Brian we are going to opt against adding a member to our family. Anya will be okay for a little bit longer as an only child.
