How old is your kitty?  is it possible that he is losing some muscle mass? I have this issue a bit with Obi - he is 16.

Thanks for the reply. He just turned 13 in August. Has never been big but it's feeling his spine and by his tail/the bones on sides that concerns me.

I have had 16 yr olds not this thin.
