i know where this one came from. before anesthesia was used, in battlefield hosptials procedures were done with the soldier biting down on a bullet since they were just little balls of metal (lead i think) the biting down would reduce teh instence of screaming. same reason they gave the pacient wiskey before they did anything. to dull the pain. Isn't it funny that different parts of America and other countries have their own slogans that to the others sound so silly and funny.

I like the expressions 'the cat's miaow' or the cat's whiskers' for something really good, but 'the cat's pyjamas'!!!???
