Normally, Lucy's eyes appear green or yellow.  Sometimes, though, when the light strikes them at just the right angle they turn the most beautiful shade of blue.  To accentuate this feature, I converted the photo to B&W, leaving her eyes in color. I'm not generally a fan of "spot color," but I felt it worked well for this image.

when I first saw this picture I thought it  must have been altered because as far as I know there is no such thing as a blue-eyed black cat although my black Panthera has these really light eyes that in a certain light  look watery blue.
Yes, I did intensify the color in Lucy's eyes, though they were most definitely blue in the original capture.  Like your cat, the light has to strike Lucy's eyes just so to turn them blue.  Normally they are green or yellow. BTW: I typically enhance the eyes a bit in cat portraits (and people too).
