So this is a continuation of my ongoing "investigation" of my kitten's allergy issue that I am trying to resolve. I've just recently been paying attention to her ears. When I first got her, I thought it was maybe because she is still young, but now I am wondering if kittens at 5 months should have more fur on their ears?? What do you think??

If it was allergy related, it’s unlikely to be this symmetrical. When Chips came to me after his human died, he’d lost a lot of hair on the back of his ears in a similarly symmetrical way. It was partially due to nervous itching, as he had some healing scabs on his temples, but the hair loss was largely due to his stress. If her ears aren’t scaly, dry, overly warm, or sore to the touch, I wouldn’t think it’s likely to be directly related to her allergies, unless she’s been itching her ears a lot. Many cats do have sparser fur on their ears naturally, but she does have a spot on each ear that’s noticeably sparse.
