Keep him away from her until he's fixed and for a few days after. She can go into heat again within a week and the neuter isn't immediately effective.

Wonderful news, both about the kittens and their health, and about daddy cat.  I can just hear him now, "WHY FIX?  NO BROKEN!"  But he will be a happier and healthier boy once it is done.  Mama should be spayed as well, as soon as the little ones are weaned.  Neutered animals have a longer, healthier and happier life than do non-neutered ones.  Kittens, also, if  you can manage it!  I know some vets will do a group rate for spay/neuter and shots on litters, because of the importance of it.  Check around with your local vets and shelters.  Someone should be able to give you the information.

What adorable kittens!  And such a beautiful mama cat - it looks like she is doing a great job taking care of them

My girl cat was a pregnant stray when we took her in to live with us.  I still remember how exciting it was to feel the kittens moving around in her belly!   We don't have any (people) children yet, so it was truly amazing watching her pregnancy and witnessing the miracle of birth!  My Lilith only had two kittens - you will have your hands full with seven!     I'm glad everything went smoothly, and it's great you're getting your male cat fixed - believe me, it's for the best (spraying, etc).   Good job!!

What a beautiful little family.  She's doing so well to just be a kitten herself.  And you're doing well with all of them.  Looking forward to watching them grow!

  To magick2828,

Wonderful news for the new year seven beautiful kittens. They are a handful of work but the joy that they bring will last a lifetime. Getting your baby spayed is the best thing you can do for her future health. Neutering dad will render a more relaxed cat.Enjoy every precious minute of this lovely family. Please post some more pics of this fantastic happening.Lots of luck with them all. They are lucky to have you to care for all of them.

That's awesome!! Keep an eye on the runt. The larger ones will try to push him/her off sometimes. I play referee when the little one is getting bossed around too much;)
I know its years later but, i wanna thank you! I had to really fight sometimes to ensure he got the nipple until he was full... they kept trampling him and pulling him off of the nipple so... i put him right back on! We didnt think hed make it as he was so skinny, his skin was hanging.. when it was real food time, he was the first to learn to get out of the box! He ran to the wet food! He was then, strong enough to get the nipple and stay on it and he ate all his wet food up and then, he always stole one black babies wet food. Same black baby every time! So, i had to put the black baby beside me and put her food there so she could enjoy with no problems.. when dry food came time, the runt drank up his mommas milk, ate all his wet food and ate alot of dry food, had water and jumped right back into the box to sleep... his tummy was always hard from eating up all that food.. it was then, we realized he would live.. he was black and white... he grew up to be a nice blacky grey with a cream colour on his nose and one cream coloured spot on the side of his face! He grew tall and wide and was and is such a strong, loving cat! All cats are HUGGEE! Very long, very wide (not overweight, i have them on weight control from the vets but they are still really large i dont get it!) My roomate made me call the OSPCA to as she said "get rid" of all cats but one... before i signed the surrender letter, she loaded them into the van... the cries from mom and dad and even two of the kittens... i ripped the letter up, ran outside and opened up her van and physically grabbed two by two carriers brought them quickly into my home and let each one out- grabbing them one by one, hugging them, petting them and kissing them apologizing and begging each one for forgiveness... especially the dad who was mine since he was a wee kitten. (I got first pick of my friends litter and mine was the only happy home hed known.) He was crying the very loudest... she freaked on me saying going into her van and removing surrendered cats was illegal and she called the police. Luckily, my mom was there as a witness to prove i hadnt signed the surrender paper yet... my roomate tried to say i did and when the police asked for it, the ospca lady finally admitted she loaded the cats into the carriers and into the van prior to me signing the surrender letter which turns out to be illegal... they cannot touch them until that letter is signed AND handed back to them!
She was my roomate BUT not on the lease... she was what my mom called a freeloader.... she ate my food, used my spare bedroom and there were weird stains on my matress after she was there a few months, collected her welfare cheque getting reciepts from her mom claiming she lived there (in canada, its all money, no food stamps nothing just cash.) Yet really lived at my house... never gave me a penny and ordered me around to buy what she wanted to eat.. i had to cook her meals and serve them to her in my spare bedroom or the table or chair... i was not allowed to talk to women.... was not allowed out on the weekends to the bar without her, was on a time limit... she told me what time i was to be home or, she would kill a kitten. It was like she thought we were together... luckily, that was the same day the ospca came to collect the cats.... so, i told the police what she had been doing and her threats to murder my kittens... i told them she wasnt on the lease nor did she give me a cent.. (and i even had to wash her dirty clothes or they sat there, piling up until the whole house stunk.) And that she was to immediately take all her stuff and be escorted off my property then i placed a restraining order on her as the police told me she did think we were dating and that, she admitted she would not leave me be but instead, stalk me and move back in so she was charged we went to court ect anyways, they were told she forced me to call the ospca to "get rid" of all but one cat... the cats and kittens were released to me and i now live with 7 grown kittens, their mom and dad and, a recent rescue cat i rescued from severe abuse, neglect, starvation/dehydration. Luckily, the cat was showing no signs of being hit, kicked ect and all the xrays ect came back that she was perfect so they dont think she was beaten thank god... plus, i have two dogs from china from the dcmt and a bonded pair of elderly dogs on their way! Im beginning the building of a state of the art, absolutely no kill sanctuary with the most comfortable cages and they will be allowed out at night to sleep where they want including my bed... (im having a new, 4 storey house built attached to the sanctuary sitting on 20 acres) an on site paid vet, behaviourist, trainers, people who come just to be with and pet the animals and show them love, walking them, playing with them ect and others needed. They will only be lodged inside their cells when people are coming to look at an animal, bonded pair or animals(i call furbabies) to adopt after a super close look at the adopters including federal checks, all the possible checks available, plus, 6 months of scheduled and surprise visits from someone in their area to make sure everything is going perfect and sign a legally binding contract in canada and their country/province/state ect that they must update their addresses with us and if they cannot pay for or keep the furbabies that they adopted, they must return them to us or face court.. sorry for rambling on but i wanted to update you and all who commented on my thread about the litter and mom and dad and about what im doing for animals which has always been my dream.. thank you and all who commented on my threads for the help and advice... without you and all of you, it wouldve been so difficult to figure out what to do! God bless each and every one of you!
