Wow, very very good. You know your cats!!
I thought someone would have said leopard at first, because of all the spots.. She came from VA and is a bundle of hmmmm, how do I describe this hahaha.
She came from a very good breeder. Before she left, they gave her a kiss and told her they loved herOriginally Posted by Aurora151989

Well, I have not had the chance to weigh her yet. As for her size, she is an eastern cougar, so she will not get as big as the western cougars my friend has. Since she is female, as with the bobcats, she will be smaller than the males. So, how big? Anywhere from 70-100 pounds with male easterns hitting around 150 pounds. However, I was told her dad was quite large. Once she gets larger, she will not be able to stay indoors, but we have a way to go for that. As for the rest of the fur kids, I find it quite interesting. At the moment, she is still smaller than the domestics. Most of the domestics seem to have accepted her sooner than they did the bobcats. Now, here is the strange part. Amber, who has always had a bad attitude when new cats come around, started playing with her the next morningOriginally Posted by AbbysMom
Oh my....that is sooooo much cuteness!!!
Of course, now come the questions... how much does she weigh, how big will she get? How are the rest of the fur family taking to her?
Congratulations on the new addition!
Well, that would be ok with me. The more human contact Carmella receives the better. However, you must resist the temptation to run and let her chase after you. She is like a dog. You run and she will chase after you. However, this is something you can not do. After all, once she matures, you do not want a 100 pound+ cougar chasing after you like it was ok. She also loves to chew on your arms and legs. This is another behavior that we have to work at all the time, to redirect her chewing on her toys. She is learning already, but it will take a lot more work, much like it did for the bobcats. She did have a great time today. We visited our friend, to help build cat enclosures at her facility. We took Carmella with us and she was exposed to lots of people, more cats and dogs. She was at a facility that has about 25 acres of land. Of course, this is something that we can only allow her to do while she is still small. Once she gets bigger, you do not let anyone, other than my wife and I or anyone else who is qualified, go into her enclosure. But all the exposure to people she gets now, will make her a more trusting and loving cougar when she matures. Now I must go find my boy Boris and have a good talk with himJohn, it's a good thing I don't live within driving distance of you or I'd be wanting to visit your cat family all the time!
Hmm lets see, there is Amber (bobcat), Aurora (pixie bob), Boris (bobcat), Carmella (cougar), Cinnamon (pixie bob), Katrina (Siamese mix), Lil Roar (Pixie bob), Nakoma (bobcat), Tommy Boy (pixie bob). With Carmella here, that will take up the rest of the alphabet for quite a whileOriginally Posted by GailC
How how pretty!! You have alot of the alphabet left yet!!!
Hoping Boris returns back to his usual self soon!!
Yep, I do believe that is it. The look on his face just broke my heart. I let him outside today with Amber and Nakoma. I played with him and cuddled him quite a bit. So, I hope this helps. He still didn't eat this evening, but at least he came down and was walking around checking Carmella outI think Carmella threatens Boris because she sort of dislodges him as the baby of your family. I know that's how I felt when my brother was born!
Well, I would have no problem showing you around however, I do not have a USDA exhibitor's license to allow people to come and tour the facility. I have a state license to own the cats, but no exhibitor license. However, not saying that I could not bring one or two of the kids in the car to meet somewhere. That would be ok, but I could not allow anyone to pet or touch the cats.We are pretty close.....I homeschool and your place sounds like a nice field trip to make.
Oh, that tailOriginally Posted by gemlady

I think I see another enclosure building project in your future, John!
