Ok, so I got this cat for free from my boss who told me it was a 3-5 year old F3 Savannah. He got it for free from someone he knew that could no longer care for it.
Neither I nor my boss have any kind of papers proving what he is or he isn't.
Judging from pictures online, I did find some Savannahs that look just like him. However, most of the pictures of Ocicats I see look just like him as well.
It's really hard to tell because they both seem to have similar markings. Dark spots, stripes on top of the head and down the back, banded tail and arms...
His coat is really hard to portray in pictures. He's mostly a sandy gold color but his fur is tipped with grey/white/silver. His face is the best way to see this. It kind of reminds me of a coyote. In natural light you see all of his colors and he looks dusty, in most of the pictures I try to take you don't see any of the grey in him.
He has dark brown spots that turn to almost black on his tail.
It's very frustrating to say the least. There are some Savannahs that look genuinely Serval, while some are nearly indistinguishable from Ocicats.
Size range didn't help me either. Despite the fact that I can't get a straight answer on how to properly measure a cat, and the fact that I don't have a scale, Savannahs and Ocicats seem to have an overlapping size range and he seems to be right smack in the middle on the smaller side of Savannah and larger side of Ocicat.
The way I measured him was floor to shoulder as he was sitting up tall (I didn't stretch him, nor was he hunching) and the base of the neck to the base of the tail. He seems to be about 14x17 in this manner. Including the tail he is 28" long, but these likely aren't accurate as measuring a cat by yourself can be kind of difficult.
I don't have a scale but he feels like a bowling ball. I'd estimate he's around 15lbs.
Any help is appreciated.
