Rats are often mishandled and when they come from a rescue situation...can be fear biters. Ruthie, one of my older resident ratkids, is a rescue and at over 3 years..she is a mess to handle LOL She will nip and give me the warning squeak of protest and I back off. My two previous rats were from breeders but the 3 I had more recently (got as a group) were rescues. I only have one now, but she is very skittish and will bite if handled. Who knows how she was treated before she was rescued.
I love her to bits and when she is feeling nice, she is the biggest kisser ever
