...with the cats...
good afternoon! :hellocomputer:

i was thinking today, that there are very few foods that i don't like/won't eat. sometimes, it takes using the food item in a particular way, for me to be able to enjoy it, but very few foods do i totally dislike.

i figure that the foods that i don't like, that leaves more of that kind for those who do like them! :agree:

so for today's Question of the Day......

What food(s) do you simply not like?

i'll start!

cooked greens, not including cooked spinach (i like that), are something that i just won't eat. i'd eat them raw, but not cooked. :dunno:

liver......i like (cooked) liver, but i don't like the aftertaste. it just lingers, even if i brush my teeth after eating some. :nono: no liverwurst either!

rutabegas...i simply don't like them. i do like cooked turnips, parsnips, and beets, though! :yummy:

skim milk, which tastes like milk flavored water. :cringe: i love and prefer whole milk, and can 'make do' with 2% if i have to.

and i think that's it, all the foods that i don't like!

How about you?

My list is similar.

Cooked or raw greens, except spinach.

Rutabagas, turnips, and beets. Leeks and cooked cauliflower. Can just barely tolerate brussel sprouts and am getting very tired of cooked broccoli. Broccoli is in dozens of frozen meals.

Any kind of milk except whole. Can't drink any juices, especially grapefruit juice (which I love), due to medication.

And some things in the stores I've never tried or don't know how to cook like tomatillos and spaghetti squash.

I agree that 2% or skim milk just like colored water. Because of health I am advised not to drink whole milk so I have been drinking soy or almond milk.

As far as other things I just won't eat

saurkraut (aka spoiled cabbage),
buttermilk (aka spoiled milk)
mustard greens - (Other greens I like either cooked or raw)
anchovies -just disgusting
Any kind of lettuce - I will eat it but it is just water held together with green stuff - no nutritional value. I use spinach in salads if I use greens at all.

I will eat pretty much anything else in the "normal" range that you find at grocery stores.

Anything containing hard boiled eggs
Green bell peppers or anything containing them. You can pick them out but the flavor remains.
Bananas
Cilantro
Ketchup. It masks the flavor of anything it touches
Anchovies
Canned tuna served warm or hot so no tuna melts or tuna casserole.
Offal
Cheesecake
Milk chocolate
Brussel sprouts
Turnips
Kiwi
Tres leches cake. I'm not a cake fan in general but cake should NOT be wet.

Pickles - I ate myself sick on them when I was about 5 and just cannot eat them any more.
Liver and other organ meats.
Mangoes.
Turnips. I'm fine with turnip greens. And most greens. I like collards, but they give me horrible gas.
Lots of other stuff I would rather not eat, but if I am out and they are served, I can eat them.

I am not really picky, but here are some things I can think of:

Oranges (super juicy fruits are just a no go for me... I feel the same about watermelon for the same reason).
Melons (in general, I just don't like melons... they are weird and not all that tasty anyway).
Seafood (just don't like it)

There may be more, but that's what I can think of for now. Then there are always just some things I have no desire to try. Lol.

Sweetbreads, tripe, offal, etc. (I will eat and love liver, pig stomach, beef heart)

There may be more

Liver, pickled herring, ....I like the ingredients that go into deviled eggs but the yolk mousse part and the fact that it's put back into the egg white part really freaks me out. lol It's like some irrational phobia I have.

Kale, turnips, candied orange peel, chicken feet (ordered they by accident once - tried it because I'll eat anything once, yikes awful), licquorice, all artificial sweeteners. Not a fan of cooked down celery though I'll eat it raw.

Meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, and any kind of milk except soy. Also Arugula, all greens except kale. I could eat my weight in kale. I can't seem to think of any more.

I forgot about sweetbreads. Can't stand them. My mother always mixed some into scrambled eggs. I believed for years I didn't like scrambled eggs until one day I pointed out the gray parts and said, "That's what I don't like." Don't remember how I discovered it was sweetbreads. Why she ruined perfectly good eggs with sweetbreads is beyond me.
