Now I keep thinking about a rum or cannoli cake from the bakery where my parents and I are from. Normally I stop there for almond paste cookies, pusties and cannoli; but if its someone’s birthday we might get a cake. My Grandma always got a rum cake for her birthday. (Well; I suppose Grandpa did the getting. lol) The sides are covered in slivered almonds. Their cakes are so good that if you go to a wedding and that’s who made the cake; you don’t pass it up!

I prefer bagels, croissants, Baguettes, the likes.
And a hot cup of coffee.

Oh heck yes! This sounds perfect. I've never had a baguette, but I'm eyeing one that will soon be mine.

I've made their cupcakes and my nephews said they were "chronic", ha!

Is chronic good or bad?

My mother made a butter rum cake in a fancy new pan and saved DH and I a slice. So I gota rum cake fix. It was tasty! I think I like a heavier, bundt style cake as opposed to something like you get from a box.

I think in the future I’ll ask my kids what kind of dessert they want for their birthdays. They might want something different too.
