Good morning! :wave3: And Happy Friday! :yess: It's been a long week and we're ready for the weekend.

Let's talk about our jobs: What do you do? How long have you worked at your job? Do you like it? Or are you lucky enough to be retired?

I've been a planner for 19 years. For the most part, I like my job; it's interesting and I enjoy the variety of tasks that I have. I really enjoy my co-workers; I work with a nice group of guys (one is a cat-lover with two gorgeous boys). I still have a couple years to go til I can retire and I'm ready to do so.

What about you?

I work for the Belgian refugee board since October 1993. I am leading a team of protection officers with expertise in refugee status determination of asylum seekers from African countries. It' s a stressful and demanding job, but I am still passionate about it.

I am a Senior Graphic Designer. I work for a Halloween company that designs and sells halloween costumes, makeup and accessories. We also do Easter stuff, egg decorating.

My tasks are mostly private label, which means I do package designs for companies like Walmart (ugh), Spirit Halloween and more. I also do image retouches, and makeup images and packages.

I've been with this company for almost 9 years. I like it here, I can't complain too much. I have another 30 years to go before I can retire.

I'm the receptionist for a sheltered workshop, and I've been there two years. I'm not very happy with it anymore, which is why I'm going to school.

I'm a special education teacher who is semi-retired. I officially retired recently but was asked to substitute teach in our program. It's the best of both worlds because I thoroughly enjoy the staff I work with and adore the students.

I'm a preschool teacher. I've been teaching, mostly pre-k about 9ish years? I've only been at the school I'm at a couple years now.

I'm a homeschooling, stay-at-home mom. I've never been busier in my life. :runaround:  Before my kiddos came I worked in medical offices and taught clerical and job seeking skills for a non-profit that helps people with disabilities find employment. So still nothing using my degree.

I love it. I'm waaaay happier than when I was working outside my home. It's harder though. When some moments are really hard I just remind myself that some moments are really really great and I would't be part of those if we were doing life differently. This is our first week of summer break and I've kind of been like this: :bliss: and taken a nap every afternoon. :cloud9:

I have to ask; do you go around spotting bad Photoshop editing everywhere you go? :paranoid: I imagine doing that for a living would let you spot a fake photo easy. :smash: When I was proofreading reports (a job during college) I got so I was spotting errors in everything I read. :p

I do!

And for obvious packaging errors, I contact the company with a photo and a copy of my resume saying "This would not happen if you hired me". Sometimes they'll call me and offer a freelance job or to say they got my note and will be making the correction

I'm a retired accountant. I worked for a private practice for 23 years and then for the local authority for 17 years. I loved my job until the last 2 years when a lot of changes were taking place and people started backstabbing etc. I now really enjoy DIY and so glad to have retired.

For the past six years I have been doing medical billing for ambulance service. I am 62 and already resisting the urge to start counting days to retirement.

While not a paying job, right now I'm currently a full time student. I'm behind on the regular time to go back to college but I decided it was time.

Kind of gotten a big head while doing it now so I'm planning to head to medical school. :p I have been PLANNING to go to become a psychiatrist but I've been getting into neurology through my courses and I've been enjoying it just as much as my psych classes.

My friends think I'm going to be a life-long student so I don't see a retirement per-say.

I retired 8 years ago after working in the same office for 43 years. I love being retired even though I am not able to do a lot because of my health. The last 10 years of my job was a living Hell because so many of the women turned on me. No one would tell me why I became so disliked but I retired the very second I was able to.

I am a library services specialist and I work for one of the county libraries. I like my job for the most part, but I've been feeling a little burnt out lately and have been looking for a job in writing since that's what my degree is in. I may get my Master's in technical communications though because the county will pay for most of it.

The main reason I am hesitant about getting a new job is because I love my coworkers. There are a couple that I do not like, but everyone else is so awesome and my boss is amazing.

I am the finance director for a small municipality. It's had its ups and downs over the last 19 years but lately its been pretty good. It can be really draining because government workers often get a bad rap and people sometimes are not very nice to us.

DH and I have a friend who is 38 and in Med School. He has high school aged kids at home. It's never too late! My cousin spent 12 years on her college degrees. She was almost finished with her Masters when they changed requirements for the field she wanted to go into (she does something in mental health counseling) so she kept going and got a 2nd masters. :dizzy:  It's good to be a lifelong student; even if you continue learning in a non-traditional way. My in-laws like to take advantage of the free classes at a local university near them.

That sounds like fun! I'm a very, very amateur graphics artist--just for fun, mostly for my club. I just designed an ice cream fundraiser poster.

I teach English as a second language. I have students of all ages, from pre-kindergarten to retired adults, so I'm doing something different every hour.

I've been doing this for about 16 years now, with a few years off here and there to travel.

I started doing this job after I graduated from university. My cunning plan was to come to Japan, work for a year and make enough money to pay off my student debts, travel in Asia for a bit, then go back home and get a "proper" job.

I stayed for 18 months the first time, then went traveling for 6 months, after which I was broke so came back to Japan because I knew I'd be able to get a job straight away.

and the rest is history.

I worked for big English Conversation schools when I first started, but I'm free-lance now and do most of my lessons online. I can't retire for another 20 years, but that's OK. I quite enjoy my job.

Draco Draco you'd go nuts if you ever came to Japan. I see bad grammar and spelling mistakes on restaurant signs, shop fronts, packaging etc all the time! I can forgive it if it's just a little hand written notice on a Mom&Pop grocery store, but not if it's a restaurant chain with branches all over the country. Why don't they get things proof read before they print out a million copies!?
