I have adopted a pregnant, gorgeous black stray cat. One of my employees (knowing that I only adopt strays/rescues) told me his girlfriend had spotted a stray that looked pregnant outside their apartment. She had noticed the cat wandering around for about a week and was finally able to get the cat inside. She brought the cat in and fed it and they bought it to me the next morning, which was this past Tuesday. Today is Friday. She is such a great cat. Head butts from the moment she came out of the carrier. She looks very healthy. Her coat is very clean and glossy.
From the moment I saw her you could tell she was pretty far along in her pregnancy. Her belly is large. Bulbous (sp?). She has large teats and the fur around them is gone. I can feel the kittens moving. She allows me to feel her belly with no objections.
I have prepared her a great nest which she frequents and rearranges the towels we have placed in it for her. I have gathered all the essentials that I have read on the numerous threads on this site. Very informative by the way, thank you.
She is in my office which is quiet and warm.
Today she has become clingy which is mentioned alot on these threads. She has also been breathing heavy. Almost panting but without her mouth open. She also spent more time in the nest today. When I leave the office she cries at the closed door. So of course me being her human, I return and give her lots of cuddles and praise.
Am I correct to assume she may be in early labor?
