Hello, I’m writing you from Vancouver, BC Canada and I am desperate to find a no-kill shelter In the Los Angeles area who will take in two orangie girls who are 11 years young and bonded.
Attached:
The story:
My best friend, Gini, who lived in L.A. passed away November 23, 3013 and left behind Annie and Emma. Gini took them in as feral strays when they were kittens and they bonded closely with Gini. Gini’s brother now lives in the house and hates the cats, says he’s allergic and wants them gone asap which breaks my heart. Gini’s other family members in Boston, Mass. don’t want them either. My other friend lives about an hour away from Gini but due to her circumstances, can’t take them in. We are both animal advocates and spread the word about adoption and spay/neuter programs.
Through my past visits to Gini in LA, I have had the pleasure of sleeping with them and getting to know their purr and personalities. They are bonded, although you could say that Annie is certainly “alpha” and has retained a bit of her feral background. That being said, I have had the honour of petting her soft tummy. Emma is the most affectionate of the two. Both will take some time to adjust to a new home.
In a purrfect world, here is what I’m hoping for. I hoping that a volunteer from a caring shelter will make a home visit to assess the kitties and perhaps take them back to the shelter or better yet, a quiet, adult foster home with no other pets. Eventually, I’m hoping that “said” shelter will find the purrfect home for them and retain the adoption fee, of course.
In honour of my best friend I am willing to make a sizable donation in order to make this happen. As it is now, they are being fed and litter scooped, but that’s about it. They’ve lost the only human that they’ve loved and now they will have to be uprooted – you can only imagine how scared or depressed they must be. If I could, I would love to have them both come up to Canada, but I’m afraid the red tape will be too lengthy to cut through and Gini’s brothers are putting pressure on us to find a solution as soon as possible.
If any of you in the LA area can at least set me on the right path - perhaps give me some names of shelters, or internet links, that's a start. I'm on facebook as Slick Heys and have already emailed two shelters as well as Jackson Galaxy. Any response is truly appreciated.
Thank you for listening.
