I am really worried as this is very out of character for her and the weather has been very nasty. She has been gone for a few hours before but nothing that worried us. Other times she was just napping up in the closet and we didn't even know it after looking for her. Our house isn't very big and we've looked everywhere to no avail. Last I saw her wasFriday night at dinner time. I remember looking at the clock when I fed all our cats and it said 5:50 and all 6 of them were there. Then I opened a packet of treats around 6:15 and I can remember her coming in through the cat door in the kitchen when she saw me handing them out to all of them, but then just running by because she isn't big on them and heading into the living room and probably out the front door, which was open. Once again, that is nothing new as we often leave it ajar so they can go in and out. That is the last I can remember seeing her. My husband got home at 6:45 and she really loves him and practically jumps up in his arms or in his lap every night when he gets home, but wasn't around. Something happened in that half hour between when I last saw her and when he got home. We didn't even really become concerned until about 10PM that night when we hadn't seen her for a while.
Like I said, it has been very nasty, with driving rain and wind all night so I can't imagine her wanting to be out in that. The sun is coming out now so I'm hoping she might show up. She has a collar and tags, but no microchip.
We are in a fairly quiet subdivision. Very low traffic...just mostly people who live in the neighborhood. We have a park about 2 blocks away and someone said they heard coyotes in the park. But our cats don't stray more than a couple of houses in any direction. Plus she must have disappeared just after 6pm so it wasn't extremely dark and I can't see anything getting her at that time. Nor can I see a coyote wandering up our street. She did disappear about a year ago for 24 hours but returned the following night. She is probably the most savvy of our cats and wouldn't let strangers get close to her and tends to dominate over our other cats so I can't see her being intimidated by anything.
I just can't see her getting into someone's garage because she is so skittish when we open or close our garage that she runs right out. Plus, it was rainy and windy and getting dark so I can't see anyone having their garage open. I just can't understand what would make her come in the pet door, run thru the kitchen and then out the front door and not return. If something was after her then she would just run in and run up the cat condo. She did that once when we found a possum on the porch. She loves my husband so not sure why she would leave.
