OH! I don't keep the kibble in a baggie under my pillow anymore LOL. Everyone caught on, and there was no way to feed Laz without everyone coming running.
So I have to get up and feed him in the bathroom (the only room we can close off in the RV lol).
Oh I SEE....GARY wanted some kibble...riiiiight! LOL

Laz is staring to feel better. I ran out of Fortiflora, which is always the fall back when I can't get anything else to entice him to eat, so we ran by the vet. THEY were out!
So I broke down, and bought Fancy Feast flavors with gravy.
(Normally I only buy the classic so at least he's not eating wheat gluten). He's really enjoying it. He's eating a little less than an ounce at each sitting, and in addition to the three meals they've had already today, he's asked for food twice.

Here you go Laurie Fortiflora - Cheaper then at the vets, and even though they have it a dollar or so cheaper with free shipping, I like sent from Entirelypets as the shipping is FAST. $21.65, free shipping.

Laurie!!! Who cares what he eats at the moment!!! Fancy Feast it is. If he will pig out on that, so be it. Wilbur LOVES Fancy Feast and cat kibble and he is a dog. He won't eat anything else right now, so Fancy Feast Classic Flavors it is
. I am just glad Lazlo is eating something today, this is very, very good news.

Hope Gary and Lazlo let you sleep tonight (well, Lazlo can wake you up to eat
because otherwise you will be laying there wondering why he isn't waking you up to eat
and worrying about it). As for the bag of kibble under the pillow LOL, that would never work for me either. I would be bombarded at the first krinkle .
Love you you
, Scritches and rubs to Lazlo
and I guess Gary and the other kids can get

EAT EAT EAT LAZLO

There was a little spot of red in Lazlo's bowl yesterday. I though - hunh, that looks a little bit like blood, that's weird. But I figured it must have been from the Fortiflora or something (it has these teeney little beads in it).

Well, there was another one today. So I dumped some Fortiflora in some water - and there's nothing in it that can look red like that.

I know from the vet he's got gingivitis, so we took a look in his mouth (SUCH a good boy!!!). We couldn't see ANYTHING. I mean - no signs of gingivitis (he has been on the herb she prescribed for it for two months now. I think it worked).

So we're off to the vet tomorrow to see if we're missing something. We'll probably get a CBC done, just to see. His gums looked soooo white.
There's nothing we can do, and it's normal during chemo to have a low RBC. But given he's (borderline?) anemic, we simply can't have any bleeding going on!

I can't imagine what it would be - but let's get a professional opinion on that.

IDK, we didn't think to wiggle them. But good question, hopefully we'll be able to find out tomorrow with the vet.

That the vet can find something "simple" in his mouth that is accounting for this little bit of blood you are seeing.
BIG HUGE
to you and Gary. Waiting in the wings here to read a good report from the vet

OK, we're not crazy.
Lazlo's (local) vet could not find any sores, no loose teeth, nothing that could be a problem in his nose... and NO SIGNS of gingivitis!
We are SO GLAD we made the decision last year to find a holistic vet!

And everything really does happen for a reason. They treat cancer. They use a different protocol for lymphoma, but apparently all we need to do is call the specialist and ask them to send over the planned treatment schedule. !!!

I don't regret having gone to the specialist. She reviewed the records and said that the treatment did appear to be more individualized than what they provide. A number of the chemo medications used at the specialist she didn't even know could be given subQ/IV (which allows for more precise dosing), but it's pretty easy to see how it was adjusted based on our input as to how Laz was feeling and his weight.

They can order the meds, and we start next week.

So no more 3 - 4 hour round trip drives. We're moving his treatment here (we were already planning on moving his ultrasounds back here) - a 20 minute round trip drive.

My understanding is that the specialist adjusted the treatment from time to time according to his progress though.... Are you still going to go to the Oncologist for that then F/U with the Holistic? Are you going to be using both of them?

Well, technically Lazlo is in "maintenance" treatment mode at this point, the primary having been the first two months. The protocol for this period would already be mapped out, and what he adjusted was the protocol being used for this period. Along the way, he adjusted amounts, and he did alter the 2nd month from what was initially planned, but once he had the treatment protocol for the "cycle" in place, he didn't change the meds to be administered.

So given Lazlo already has two months of treatment behind him, and the local doc can adjust the amounts based on how Lazlo's feeling - and can do the IV treatments that enable the fine tuning... we'd just be moving him over here. After this round, we're comfortable with her deciding how to proceed (which will depend on the results of the ultrasound). She said she thinks a 40% shrinkage of the tumor is awesome - you don't often see a mass that size disappear in two months.

She also said the specialist is using a different definition of remission - because clearly the cancer is responding to the treatment. That meets her definition of going into remission.

But they do the same thing here: weekly treatments for two months, then every other week for four treatments. Then what happens from there depends upon the state of the cancer, but there's two options: either it goes into complete remission, and we stop treatment until it shows up on ultrasound again, OR we continue with maintenance - and again, whether treatment will be every 2 weeks, every 3 weeks, or monthly depends upon what the ultrasound indicates.

Right?

OH! And she says he looks GREAT!
His weight is stable, so I can up what I'm syringe feeding him to gain some weight - but really, he's a good weight. She said he just seems so skinny because most cats weigh more than they should, and we were joking about our little fatty cats (though really Billy and Ming Loy are the only ones with a weight "problem." The other guys are probably a pound or so off of what they should be LOL).

Those darn Specialists - they really have a totally different way of talking to us than our "regular" vet. I found this to be SO true over the years with my Wilbur. I agree with your vet - that he IS responding big-time to the treatment and IS going into a remission

I ALSO think a "good" weight on a cat is "under" weight
. I guess I like them on the "cushy" side
. And we are used to seeing "pudgy" kitties
.

YAY for more food in the syringe - we like 'em pudgy !!!!

Load of scritches to Lazlo tonight from Auntie L
