I understand that, but to get them spayed, and then have them run away, or get hit by a car/tractor, it is almost a waste of money.

It's not a waste of money. They are far less likely to run off if they are all fixed.

The one kitten is happily alive. She is the only one that made it out of her litter of 5

She has been spayed, and she is like a half inside, half outside cat. She can come in at any time, but she can also go outside
