Totally agree with Denice. We had both an adult cat and kitten with similar come-and-go diarrhea. Both had other health issues as well. Both kitties have since tested positive for Giardia. (Kitties were not integrated with each other.) It took a PCR to confirm both. Now both are on the mend.

Checked Stella's early morning poop today and after 7 hours of fasting, it was firm and well formed.  I noticed as the day progressed, her poop became more

pudding like.  Right now it's very pudding in texture. Will repeat the same fasting tonight and see what happens tomorrow morning.

Right after her two shots her pudding diarrhea cleared up completely until I made the mistake of introducing dry I/D into her diet, now it's been mostly all pudding, except for this morning.

I'm also wondering if there is a connection between fasting and having better formed poop, vs eating throughout the day which could be causing more loose diarrhea?

Just a thought.

She won't eat I/D without FortiFlora sprinkled on it.

I am calling my vet tomorrow for the cost for the two PCR tests.  One is for IDEXX diarrhea test #2625 and #2627.  Requested full vet notes and this has been recommended all along, not sure why this was not done the last time.  Does anyone have any idea as to the cost of these two tests?

I have no personal experience yet with the yeast-based probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii, but it has been mentioned on this site in multiple threads,and evidently is a natural treatment for C. Difficile, C. Perfringens, coccidia and possibly giardia too, and helps in IBD.  You can search it and read the various threads and collect other links and information about it.  Since you are dealing with several of these, @CatPack, you might want to try this probiotic and get rid of all of them at once.

One important thing I did gather from these discussions is that the Jarrow formula contains MOS which is bitter so you don't want to use that one.  There is a simple S. boulardii formula, made by Nutricology, and a combination formula made by Nexabiotic, both available on Amazon, and both palatable to cats.  S. boulardii can be used alone or in combination with antibiotics.  Search the threads and follow the links and check it out!

We are using probiotic therapy in addition to medication (Panacur for the Giardia and Tylan for C. Perfringens) and food therapy (in the form of a higher fiber diet...Pride by Instinct dry and Instinct LID canned.)

This combination seems to be working well for us so far.

We are lucky that our main vet is open to trying holistic approaches and is educating herself more in this area.)
