isis is going to be 5 months aug 29 and today my husband was bringiing in grocery's and left the door open...she got out and it was a few hours before he realixed it....what are the chances she is preg?
What are the chances she is pregnant?? It will depend on many factors including whether she found an intact male (BTW...I thought the new law was that cats must be fixed by 6 months of age). Showing outward signs of heat is not necessarily the best indication of sexual maturity. She could have a silent heat with no outward indications and kittens can become pregnant as early as 4 months of age. Is there any way that you could get her in to be spayed sooner than September?? I just wouldn't risk it.Originally Posted by Jaclyn4238

I agree completely. I don't know why people evne bother to ask here what the chances because there is no way we can tell them anything except a guess. All cats are different. If we say yes the people end up deciding to just wait it out and see and that is not the right way to go about it. The cat should at least see a vet to find out for sure if they have problems aborting a litter. Which is another problem, cats are not people, they don't knwo the difference. You aren't doing anything but helping the mother to have her spayed immediatley. So just do it.Originally Posted by Beckiboo
I never understand why when someone's unspayed cat gets out they don't just take them to be spayed within a week. With the numbers of excess cats in the world, and the risks of pregnancy and birth to a cat...I just don't understand. I mean, of course it will happen sometimes...but if an unspayed cat gets out, the first response IMO is to get her spayed!!!
What law?I have never heard of a law that tells you when you HAVE to spay your animal. Now, you've got my curiousity going.BTW...I thought the new law was that cats must be fixed by 6 months of age)
well thats not the brightest. what if your a breeder?Originally Posted by AnnasMom
I Beleive that RI has just recently passed a law where you spay or pay!
Then you have to pay $100 to get a breeder's license or something to that effect.Originally Posted by Liza24

I would imagine they would track rabies vaccs thru the vet other than that, I'm not sure. The ironic thing is that the people who they "know" have cats b/c of vacc records are probably the ones that are spaying their animals anyway.Originally Posted by crittermom
WOW!!! How do they "know" you have a cat?Hmmmmmmmmmm......
Or the ones who order it and do it themselves...Originally Posted by crittermom
Thankfully BOTH Blaze and Neela are spayed.
Corwin WILL be neutered when he reaches 12 weeks old and then when Malana is 12 weeks old she WILL be spayed also.
I was curious as to how they knew who had cats.
I think it will be VERY hard for them to uphold this bill/law.Expecially for those who don't do the Rabies shot.
