Betty. Betty! Don't sleep through the crew in the sagebrush. And BTW, that bowl has YOUR name on it. :hearthrob: :kneading::hearthrob::wave3:*JustFYI and possible reassurance (?) Elvis is a bit off his food as well. But he NEVER misses his treats. Do you think there's a conspiracy afoot?*:sigh:
She didn’t even ask for her treat that she gets with my breakfast. 🤷🏼‍♂️

*Absolutely!*
D'ya think Betty could pass the message along to Elvis that eating the good foods is a good thing? ;)
Betty finished breakfast and has already made a good dent on lunch. No vomit piles. That I know of. Seems we dodged a bullet there. She got the runt of the ondansetron “quarters” this morning. I wonder if that made the difference. Those pills are about the same size and shape as a rice grain. When quartering them in the pill cutter, there’s inevitably one “quarter” that’s smaller than the others because the first half cut wasn’t even. I call this the runt. I try to give her the runt quarter at a dinner time because this happens if she gets it at breakfast. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I guess she still needs the ondansetron.

Betty has started her spring shed. I call her Sheddy Betty. She may be working on her first hairball of the season. For that matter, Elvis might be working on one himself.

I’m pulling hairs out of my mouth. I might be working on one too. 🤦🏼‍♂️😹

Sheddy Betty continues to shed. But there has been no hairballs yet. Knock on wood.

We had our first warm night and wouldn't you know it? Betty was trying to hug me like the radiator I didn't need last night. 🤦‍♂️

I bought her BestLife4Pets Oral Health. I'm not sure what to make of it. But it seems harmless enough. One of those might help, probably won't hurt kind of things. Her breath has been stinky which means there's probably more to that story. But doc said her mouth looked pretty good last time. Who knows? I want to finish paying my taxes this year before I make an appointment with a dental specialist. I know the wait is probably three months. But I don't want to be caught by surprise with an earlier appointment and not being sufficiently back to positive cash flow.

Elvis generally smells pretty clean except that sometimes after eating, he doesn't. It's like with humans. I looked at that item and there are a lot of ingredients I'm unfamiliar with, plus SULPHURIC ACID?!! WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT??? Must be a trace amount. But why is it there?
Good luck on the taxes. :gaah:

This is what I found on why sulfuric acid might be in there:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfonated_phenolics/sulfuric_acid
(It's a possible topical treatment for ulcerations, canker sores, and stomatitis)

That said. This is a homeopathy product. I don't know that C100 D100 business. But this link seems to say anything above 24X is likely to be simply water.
Homeopathic dilutions - Wikipedia

Lots of reviews seem to say this improves their kitties breath if nothing else. And maybe these will be either her offramp off the gabapentin or her gateway drug into the medi-melts version. Those unmedicated medi-melt samples never did arrive. But I'm sure Betty would appreciate it if we could switch it up from the squirt and the pout. On some level she must know it helps because she doesn't try very hard to avoid it. I'm grateful for that. But I'm sure this is something we both would love to find a better way. And if these can slow down her resorption (not something they can promise), we would definitely be happy for that.

So I finally figured out why Trump's tax cuts have been costing me every April since when I used to get refunds before. The damn SALT (state and local tax) deduction limit that allowed them to fund the cuts elsewhere. As a high earner in a high tax state, that was a sweet deduction. The limit is supposed to expire after the 2025 tax year. But let's see if the Dummies or Rubes have the appetite to piss off a lot of people by renewing it. It's probably going to be some bargaining chip for something else we don't need, and I'll still get screwed. Anyway, I've increased my withholdings so next year won't be such a shock.

Anyway! Blah! Taxes. And Mondays!

My CPA handles that, but I do know that I paid more when drumpf was in charge than when he wasn't. So much for being on the side of the little & middle guy, eh?:sigh:
Hope that works well for Betty! and that she does get to come off the gaba. What happened with the samples? Are you going to, or have you already, tell/told them about this? Betty deserves to have those.

Boo!

Stepped in a treat regurg pile. I don’t remember hearing this ejection. But it sort of explains why breakfast is still untouched. While I was cooking my breakfast, I told her “no treats before eats” and she eventually sulked off to sit with the radiator. Your guess is as good as mine how the rest of this morning is going to play out. (Or where the second spit is because she always spits in pairs. 🤦🏼‍♂️)

EDIT: Found the second spit. It really was just a spit having ejected the only solids (a kibble and a Greenie) just a few feet away. 🤦🏼‍♂️😿

Yeah, that happens here, too -- a regurge and a little liquidy follow-up. So now you're both on your way to a (hopefully!) nice, peaceful, comfortable, gastronomically satisfying weekend. ;) :hearthrob::kneading::hearthrob:🍺🍔

She had a few more angry acid spits and a HUGE 💩! 🙀

She must have felt so much better afterwards. I had to get answers as to why that 💩 was so big. 🔬🧐 Into a baggie it went. I sealed it and then squished it around and found some dense hairballs in there. I did not see carpet which was what I was really worried about.

After cleaning three spit locations with the Bissell--and then pulling the hairballs out of the Bissell (the Bissell's hairballs**, not Betty's)--Betty finally approached her plate and ate about 1/3 of her breakfast. Perfect! I didn't want her to eat the whole thing if she has a grumpy tummy. Then off to her cave to sleep it off. I changed it out for a fresh 2/3 portion and I'm nearly ready to start my taproom afternoon.

I think it must be the changing of the seasons and the shedding of her coat that's likely resulting in more hair ingestion than usual and likely affecting her appetite. I'm glad the hair came out in the litterbox than on the carpet. We have been brushing daily. Maybe I try one of those Instagram mist brushes that allegedly reduce shedding. Probably couldn't hurt.

** While they are mostly composed of Betty's hair (and maybe some of mine), they were not formed and ejected in Betty's belly. A common occurrence with wet vacs is the accumulation and formation of their own hairballs from what they are able to pull up from the carpet. Bissell hairballs are a sign it's working and pulling hair out of the carpet along with everything else.

Yup, me too. Geoffrey always has 2 consecutive vomits.. the main one and another smaller one. It comes in pairs. I always look for the second one.
BTW, he is now shedding., but not wanting too much brushing. I give him laxatone, every other day. Seems to help.

This morning, I was expecting a throw up... He ate a great breakfast, but was crying, pacing around, drinking a ton of water.. It was all the pre-up chuck behavior.. So far, nothing.. fingers crossed.

I should probably get a Bissell, pet clean machine. I do need a new vacuum.. have been saying that for so long~~ just cannot afford it now.. I do not know when I ever will... With the cost of Geoffrey's prescriptions, my scripts, my health insurance and now my car insurance ( increasing over $1,000 a year); it is really hard to keep up.. spending my Savings on all this stuff. I spend at lest $200-$200 a month on Geoffrey... sigh.. love him..

daftcat75 daftcat75 That's PURRogress! :hearthrob: :kneading: :hearthrob: 🍺 🍔 I often brush Elvis multiple times a day with the slicker brush, because he LOVES it. He actually comes and asks for it. Also, combies with the flea comb. But yeah, it's shedding season now! so Betty is bound to have a greater output than earlier in the year.
artiemom artiemom IDK how it would work for you, but I had a Dirt Devil refurb that lasted me for about 8 years. It was wonderful. But it finally rebelled, at which point I went back on their site and called them, explaining the situation. They offered me a great deal. And the bagless vac I bought from them cleans as well, or better than, a Dyson, for a fraction of the price. It's easy to empty and reassemble. My roomie's Dyson was always packing up and didn't hold a charge very well. I don't like cordless vacs anyway. And I will not pay hundreds for a vacuum. But that's just me.1.800.321.1134 is their # and you can look at what they have on www.dirtdevil.com if you want.
