My grandfather is in the hospital. He'd had three strokes in the past two and a half weeks, and a couple more in the two years before that. Anyway, he went to the hospital a week ago after the second of the more recent strokes. The left side of his body was basically useless.
Well, yesterday, he suddenly went nearly comatose, and they did another CT scan this morning. He's had a fourth stroke . . . but a massive one. A third of his brain tissue was destroyed in just that one stroke. He also has pneumonia, since he can't swallow right and his saliva has been going into his lungs. His brain is now swelling and hemorrhaging, too.
The doctors have given him two weeks to live, and that will only be in this coma-like state. It's basically a race between the swelling and bleeding, the pneumonia, and the possibility of him having another stroke. One will kill him, it's just a matter of time. I'm really sad right now.
I'm not really asking for prayers that he'll get well, since I don't think that's possible. I just want prayers to help me be strong for my mom (it's her dad), and that whatever happens, that he suffer as little as possible. Thanks for listening.
