If I'm reading this correctly, (NHC TS OPHELIA discussion) and if this storm "behaves"
, I believe it's going to sideswipe the coast as a tropical storm or a weak Category 1. IMO, the problem is going to be with excessive rainfall as the thing is moving so slowly. Of course 75-80mph winds are nothing to sneeze at either.

If anyone sneezes during tropical storm force winds......might kick it up to hurricane 1.

We're about 60 miles inland, northwest of Wilmington and it's still quiet as a mouse here. Just waiting for it to start pouring. It's already crazy humid, so it's definately heading this way.

It is pretty much over here. We lost power for a few hours last night, but it really never got that bad. We had a cute little visitor taking refuge from the storm. We are missing a screen in a storm window, and a little squirrel got inside the recess where it should be. We have awnings over all the windows, so he was well protected. I wanted to take a pic, but I was afraid it would scare him out of hisl hiding place. I had a hard enough time keeping the cats from scaring him away. Bad kitties!

I live on the coast below New Bern. Ophelia pounded us good, but it is finally gone. Our power was out after eleven last night and we got it back about dark today. The phone was out all day. All three roads out of here had water across them where the tide came in. I have heard of no serious flooding in our area.

I texted back and forth with Steph this morning and evening. The eye of the hurricane went right over Emerals Isle, her home. They rode it out. She said they were fine, just no power and it was horribly windy. She is ok and they are all fine! What bravery! Goodness!!!!

The hurricane did not dare hurt Stephanie or her babies.

She is one tough cat Mommy.

Thanks for letting us know how they are doing.

What a big relief.

Thankfully by the time it gets here, it wont be a tropical storm. Or at least that's what they're saying now. Who knows though, this one has been so unpredictable, it's hard to know exactly what it's going to do!
